DG33TL & BSOD

BNIB DG33TL & BNIB E2180, a working 250GB Deskstar & a working Sammy 203B installed in a Sonata III.
I keep getting the BSOD when trying to install XP...usually at the part when it's installing drivers.
I have nothing hooked into the headers (audio, usb, etc).
I have the drive option in the bios set for legacy.
The message i'm getting is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (which could mean a ton of things).
I've tried swapping out ram & swapping out the PSU to no avail.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

you may need to force a driver before the install starts
EDIT> vista may already have the driver where XP may not.

I might slipstream SP2 into my copy of XP...dunno if that'll help or not.
That "Windows Experience" or whatever it's called...the thing w/the 1-5 scale...it's showing a "1" for me. Running an E2180 w/2GB of that good ol' HP DDR2-667 ram.
Shouldn't it be a little better than that?
