its a decent motherboard. i don't know why ecs gets a lot of crap but i've tried about 5 different models and they've been working just fine.

I HATE FRY'S

Me too. But, they're heading east. They hit Chicago, then Atlanta, then indianapolis. I hope they stop off in Columbus and give Micro Center a reason to be price competative.

Good in the Bay Area. Two weeks ago, for $10 more, they had a 2.4C w/ mobo that people were able to get up to 3.2. :)

The Retail 2800+ is $130 @ NewEgg by itself and as far as I know, the mobo is fairly decent.

HOT deal.

Does anyone know if you have to flash the BIOS on this board in order to O.C. the processor?

There is no Voltage adjustment on this board at all. I grabbed a combo yesterday and used a Barton 2500 Boxed from one of their last combos and it ran just fine at 2.2 which is Barton 3200 speeds. I was using the KT600-A from the last sale it also ran the Barton at 3200 Speeds. The 2800 chip from thr N2U combo ran at 185FSB solid but I opted to keep the 2500@3200. I have sold many of these combos from Frys in machines and they all run fine but you need a magic chip for good overclocking results. BUT for the money and the even limited overclock these combos are a steal in my book.

Like all nforce2 motherboards I have found certaim memory to be very good. Right now I have been buying any memory with a cas of 2.5 from Kingston (value ram) , Corsair and Mushkin. I have had Samsung work well too.

The Corsair is $42 for 256 stick at NewEgg, due to price I now use this one. I have had good luck moving the FSB to 200 (400mhz) most of the time with the XP2500 I usualy use. 3200XP!!!

I like this motherboard!

I used PC3200 Cosair Value and PC3500 K-byte memory in dual channel on this board and everything worked fine. Mushkin is better than K-Byte, so that ram on sale should be a great match for this board. I think the Bartons run at 333Mhz, so PC2700 and above should be fine.

Is there a good way to check if this motherboard is okay or not? I installed Mandrake 10 on this combo and everytime i use gftp, it keeps locking up. Browsing with Mozilla seems to be just fine. (CPU isnt burning up because WinXP apps work just fine)

Agreed. I would drive to PA from WV for a Fry's store!
