DFP Female to DVI Female...

...monitor cable, does such an adapter exist? I recently bought a lcd monitor with a DFP female connection in it (centronics 26 pin) and it comes with a cable with 26 pin DFP male on the end that goes to the montior, and a 20 pin DFP male that supposedly goes to a video card. I quickly found out that a direct DFP to VGA adapter does not exist, and that i would first need a DVI adapter. I cannot find however, a cable that would allow me to use a DVI to AGP after it. This is all I've found, a male to female, and a female to male, :

The first one doesnt help me at all, and I dont even know if the second would work if I managed to find a DVI female to VGA female which I dont think exists, so if anyone knows if theres such thing as a DFP Female to DVI Female adapter it would be great to know. I just realized that if a DFP Male to DFP Female adapter exists then maybe the first adapter could be of some use, so let me know that too.

You know, I'd never even heard of DFP until you posted this. Are you trying to go from DFP to VGA?

yeah i am, and yea i didnt hear about it either until the monitor came in the mail, stupid me buying the cheapest monitor i could find on some questionable website oh well its for my parents so i dont mind waiting...too long

Welcome to AT.

I too hadn't heard of that type of connection.

Seems like it's a digital connection, so a VGA to DFP probably doesn't exist and even if it does, it would be very expensive.

DVI to VGA adapters that you find everywhere for $10 or so work because the DVI output from videocards carries the DVI-D signal as well as the analog signals for a VGA connection.

So, DVI-I (digital and analog) to VGA is easy, but you want to go VGA to digital, which is not easy.

How much was this monitor?

As irriating as it would be, the best bet might be to try to return it.

Alternatively buying a DFP to DVI adapter and then buying a cheap videocard with DVI output might work. (I'm not sure though since I have no experience with DFP).
