DFI UT P35-T2R...Anybody got one?

I read the article here & the reviewer didn't seem too impressed w/the "Transpiper" system.
I just got a deal on one of these boards, but am now wondering if it's a waste of time to install the "Transpiper" & was also wondering if I did, if I noticed a couple of fan clips on the heatsink itself...perhaps for a 92mm fan.
Can any owner chime in?
Thanks.

Mine didn't come with the transpiper but after reading about it in the manual, I chock it up to a gimmick more than anything, unless someone has factual evidence to support otherwise.

I gained 200 more MHz without really trying on my Q66 and the sad thing is, I haven't really tried OC'ing it yet. "honey do" list got in the way. 🙁

I got the open box one I linked you to in your other thread.

your LT doesnt have the transpiper.

The UT does. However i didnt recomend the UT to Gill because he has a uber MCW30 that would replace the transpiper if he had bought the UT.

And he wouldnt of been happy that i made him spend 40 more dollars for a board which he has to strip something off to match the cheaper other one.

😛

I think thats grounds for a permaban. Hehehe...

But if you have the UT, like your title, then yes you have the transpiper, and its not great, but not bad.

The LT has a single sink, however i recomend you replacing that for quad overclocking. Also i recomend a 70mm fan in front of your mosfet sink like so:

Its anchored via zipties in the bottom corner though the fan grills. When you look at the board you'll understand what i mean.

I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. Seemed like a gimmick.

Well, I got the thing installed in my case & everything hooked up. I hit the power button, it ran for about 3 seconds, shut off, restarted, ran for about 2 seconds, shut off, etc. No post, didn't even run long enough to turn the power LED on my monitor from amber (standby) to green (power).
I reset everything I could reset, reseated everything that could be reseated, but still no go.
I know the ram & the video card that are in there are good as they just came off my previous motherboard.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks.

OK...I reseated the cpu, hooked it up outside the case (w/a different PSU) & it got to the post screen. I then reinstalled it back in the case (glad I invested in a case w/a removable mb tray!), turned it on & it did the same thing. I thought maybe the mounting screws were too tight, so I loosened them up a tad, restarted, same thing. Then I unhooked the PSU in the case (Corsair 520HX) & hooked up the 24 & 8 pin power w/a different PSU (BFG 800W), held down the reset, then the power button on the mb for 4 seconds, hit the power & it posted. I then hooked up the Corsair again, held down the reset & power for 4 seconds, hit the power button & it posted.
I'm formatting the hdd now & getting ready to install XP.
Dunno what was wrong, but it's working & that's all that matters, yes?
BTW, in regards to the memory, did I read the manual right in that if i'm installing 2 sticks I put them in DIMM 1 & 2 (green & yellow)? My other motherboards, when using dual channel, had 1 stick in DIMM 1 & the other in DIMM 3.
Thanks again for the help.

That's why I love DFI - for all the trouble I went through to get it work. 😀 I like the hard way. Easy is for n00bs.

Ok, I suspect your no-post issue relates to the ram. I can't get mine to post with all sticks. Only one of them in any slots. Once it posts, I up vdimm to 2.1v. Then any combo of ram will post. The default vdimm is too low for some ram.

Now I think you'll run into a 2nd issue. 🙂 You can install windows/linux as many times as you have time, but it won't load itself. Let me know if that's the case.
