DFI UltraD & x800xl

Hey guys,

Yeah, its me again, and yeah, its that same pc, hehe. I'm tryin to build my new pc now, but I've run into a big prob. After I put in my x800 in the bottom pcie slot, I noticed that my DFI Lanparty mobo's fan/heatsink combo over the Northbridge is touching the end of my x800xl. It's not blocking the fan's airflow, but it is touching it. I called up Monarch tech and the guy said as long as the fan/heatsink isnt touching any contacts on the gfx card that it should be fine, and that it won't burn my gfx card or anything. Was he right? Any opinions what I should do?

err....I'm not sure. (I quickly looked @ the manual before and it said its both x16, but I'll check again.) If it is the top, then I'm definitely screwed b/c then the card will interfere w/ the airflow.

I'm only familiar with Asus A8N-SLI but top pci-e is x16 and bottom pci-e is x1 (default settings).

Only after configuring the board chip, bios setting and geforce driver setting to enable SLI will have both top and bottom at pcie x8 each.

I don't think pci-e is at this technology to give a total of 32 lanes.

Yep. Monarch was right. As long as it is not touching any contacts then you're fine.

Inevitable that the graphics board will touch part of the aluminum northbridge heatsink but northbridge fan is inside the circular sink so you should be okay there.

Although nb hs fan wires you have to set aside coz it's in the way too.
