Hi guys,

I have just installed my new Mobo with a proper 24 Pin PSU,
video card and ram tested to work fine,

problem is,
I don't even get a beep to get the computer booted up to Bios
Hence, the Fans are running, LED lights functioning well and all,
but it seems just dead.

what could it be?
CPU? or just the motherboard itself

if not, give me some ideas what else I could test to make sure the connections are right

you should reply this in the Technical support forum, not here..

I had problems with an Abit KV8-MAX3 about a week ago, you can check that out here

all motherboards should have basic guidelines, you need to confirm if it's the memory, video card, etc.. test out components one by one.

ok,

here are the specs

AMD 64 3000+ on stock cooling (have water cooling but yet to be installed)
1GB XMS Corsair XLPT for dual channel 2-2-2-5 Timings PC3200 ( want to be used for OC later )
ATI Radeon X800 XL
Enermax 460 W PSU with 24 Pin socket
using default Kerajan Audio
Raptor 74GB
Maxtor 300 GB diamond Max 10

i worry its either the mobo or the CPU defective now

Can you boot into the motherboard bios? If so, what are your settings?

not even into the bios,
thats the problem,
no beep

and changing ram slots?
from yellow to orange? ok I will try that
but I doubt its gonna change anything
if there is a RAM error it should still post

Okay, used just one stick now on the orange slot

not posting also,

now if everything runs but with 4 red lights of error,
all fans on, but no beep, and doesn't boot.

what else could be wrong?
i also tried disabling the hard drive connection just in case, but seriously

it seems pretty narrowed down to the CPU or motherboard at the way it reacts,
as if the CPU is dead or something

im sure it can't be a corrupted CMOS as its just being used once with default settings

Do you get continuous beeps or just no beeps period?

If you have any other ram handy, try it. This board seems picky about ram. If by chance some other ram ends up working, flash to the 3/10 bios.

no beep at all,
if it has some sort of beep sequence at least I know its alive

corsair XMS XLPT is working as i have tested them on another Nf2 system

but the problem is I don't even get into bios,
it just stays Idle

first of all, having 4 red lights lit up,
does it just represents hardware error?

Do you even have a speaker hooked up? It has one on the board, but you have to switch a jumper to activate it.

Did you check your manual to see what the diagnostic lights mean? That would be the first thing to do. Hell I can't even see the lights on my sons mb since they're tucked so far down under the bottom pci slot and a card is covering it. That was a stupid place to put diagnostic lights.

I'll look into that,
as far as I know it should be activated but just to be sure I will double check that,

the manual does not tell what 4 red lights represents.
it just says that 4 lights indicates start up, but did not mention if they are red in nature or green or whatsoever

yeah it should the computer now boots up with just one light of debug error I suppose
thanks to the guideline

now I wonder if the 4 pin floppy is actually necessary to be hooked up to the mobo,

perhaps I can reuse my first PCI express slot so that I have some space to add an additional fan for ventilation,
in a hot country,

if all goes well, I'll try to get internet hooked up soon and also have water cooling installed in a short period of time,

thanks to mucker for letting me know the crucial components of getting the system to run,
i just wonder now if the 4 pin floppy is actually needed or the 4 pin molex legacy power needs to be attached

Although the manual says you'll be fine without all 4 connectors, users are reporting stability issues without doing so. It certainly can't hurt anything...

also go to dfi-street.com for more help...they have a DFI tech support guy in the forums. Angry_games or something... also, was your board in good shape when it arrived? or damaged in any way? these boards were arriving from various etailers with damage to the onboard reset switches...

one led is good. that will go off once the OS is loaded. try booting and rebooting and rapidly pressing the delete key to try and get into BIOS

came in good shape from ZipZoomFly

CPU-Z detected a newcastle core for my 3000+ instead of a winchester :(
one after another issue,

oh well, thats another thing to think about,

yeah DEMO24 is right, the one LED light will go off once the OS is loaded
managed to get into BIOS,
is there a particular setting that I need? seems like everyone is emphasizing on that,

my RAM timings set to 2-2-2-7, as I thought I read that 7 is best for NF4 chipset, correct me if I am wrong.

What kind of ram are you using? Are you using the 3/10 bios? There are some newer beta bioses (April) directed at the type of ram you are using (TCCD, bh-5. etc..)

I am using Corsair XLPT TwinX 512 X 2 1GB Kit

is it TCCD?
i suppose it should be the one using Samsung Chips

the bios is just the regular one provided by the board,
nowt sure what it is actually

i willcheck again with the next boot up
