ok so i bought all the parts i need for a new system, psu, cpu, vid card, mobo, ram, etc. the works. well this damn mobo wont run my RAM in dual channel mode! the RAM is Corsair Value Select 2x512. i have flashed the bios to the most current version and all that, even tried upping the DIMM voltage to 2.8v per DFI's website's instructions. no go. tested each stick in the bios' memtest86 and they appear to be just fine according to the results! (no errors in 1 pass, same timings for each stick..)

i have a 420w enermax noistaker psu, and the DFI Ultra-D (duh) mobo

now im running it in single channel mode and my system will run fine but i bought a dual channel kit to run dual channel dammit. my system wont even get a signal to the monitor if i put any ram in either slots 3 & 4 (i.e. RAM combos (1 & 3), (2 & 4), (just 3), (just 4)). but the friggin memtest goes fine, is my mobo to blame?

i already have to RMA the stupid SATA drive i got which was d.o.a. i need to know if i should also RMA the memory and/or mobo. this friggin sucks. can anyone help?

for dual channel you have to put the memory in the same color memory slots. ie both in the yellow or orange

Its recomended to place them in the 2 orange slots.

Also plug in all your power connectors. 24pin native psu (no 20-to-24pin adapter), 4 pin cpu, 4 pin molex AND the 4 pin floppy..

i think 2&4 that he mentions are the same colored orange slots. if just one stick in one of those slots also doesn't work, sounds like you've got something wrong with those 2 slots, for whatever reason.

do you have other memory you can test with.

you are doing just stock memory timings for getting things going, right?

I don't know much about it, but I've heard rumblings about Corsair Value Select and DFI nf4 boards. :/

drewski - yeah i think you're right. Maybe the second channel just doesnt work for whatever reason. Monday my friend is grabbing me 2 sticks of ram from his job so i can test that out. but yeah, i tried just one stick in slot 3 and it wouldnt boot (meaning it powers up but no signal to the monitor). same deal for slot 4. And it wont work 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 obviously or else i wouldnt be posting this. im just using stock timings to get the friggin thing to work but it aint helpin.

jose - i got all the power connectors plugged in. it just wont go if i just use the second channel (3 and/or 4). so maybe its just the mobo.

So should i send back both the memory and mobo to be safe or just the mobo??? i mean the ram passes memtest86 with no problems so i dunno... i think this board is just being screwy. this sucks because ive built numerous computers and never had a problem with screwy parts, but when i build my own system i get a DOA hard drive and a mobo that wont do dual channel.
