God damn the morons at DFI piss me off. I RMAed a motherboard because it kept rebooting on me whenever I put two sticks of memory in it. I typed up a letter which I included in the package which clearly stated what the problem was. I call them up today and she tells me she already shipped back my motherboard. I ask her what she did and she tells me they flashed my bios and sent it back. WTF!@#
I tried to explain to her that it's not the bios, but the stupid b!tch can barely speak english much less understand it. I asked her if they tested out the motherboard with two sticks of memory and she said we put one stick in and it worked fine.
So now I wasted $10 shipping out a motherboard just to have the bios flashed and I'm going to have to shell out another $10 to send it back to those god damned morons.

I hope you do realize that flashing the BIOS was a common way to fix this type of problem, at least in older boards.

Hmm...You may not be using the right RAM. I've had that problem with the MSI 845E Max board, I had. I put 2 sticks of cheap RAM I got at Best Buy in it, it would POST fine, but it when I would play a game or something memory intensive, the system would lock up and I would have to hard reset. I sold the mobo to my friend, he was aware of the problem, I was not aware that MSI was picky about what ram should be used in their boards, so my friend poped in some Kingston RAM in each slot and it worked perfectly.
I know it was just the motherboard being picky because the RAM worked fine in the ASUS board that I used to build a computer for at server later on.

stupid rant too.... last time I checked, just tossing a piece of hardware in a box with a letter was NOT the proper RMA procedure for any hardware manufacturer. And yes, very often a bios flash fixed issues like this and if it does you wasted your $10 on shipping because of your own stupity (and some of DFI's too) and yes, wrong forum.

I tried it with 3 different sticks of memory. Mushkin kept sending me out replacement sticks because my machine kept rebooting. After spending hours, we finally realized it only happened with 2 sticks of memory. My machine was stable for over a year with the same 2 sticks of memory. Then the rebooting just started happening about a month ago.

Ok then tell me what the proper RMA procedure is? I faxed in the RMA form to DFI listing the problems and they faxed it back with an RMA number. I boxed the motherboard properly without any of the accessories as DFI requested. I included the RMA form that they faxed back to me. I also typed up a letter detailing the problem I was having with the motherboard. I sent it via Fed Ex so it was traceable. They received it and accepted the board.
The motherboard already had the latest BIOS because I had already tried updating the BIOS to see if it would fix the problem. The board was running fine for over a year with the memory and the same BIOS. Then it just started rebooting repeatedly out of the blue.
And third, it's not the wrong forum because this is a rant about DFI, not a request on what to do.

3 strikes!

i would try it out just in case cuz the lady could have been wrong about what they did, she may have NO idea what they did but gave you the msot common answeer as to get you off the phone, just so happened the common answer you already knew would not solve the rpob. so yes try it, if not fixed call and ask them to pay for the shipping!!!!!!

Ah, well...Good luck to ya, then. My LanParty 865PE has been servicing me well.

I'll try it out but I have my doubts. I could hear her talking to the tech who did the work on my motherboard. If it's not fixed, I'll make sure and b!tch at them until they pay for the shipping :)

Did you read the manual.... I know sometimes dual channel will only work in slots 1&3 or 2&3, each one is different sometimes....

No offense, but if you never tried the new bios that they flashed your board to, how would you know that won't fix the problem?

My motherboard was dead after driving it home in blizzard conditions (it got wet... that didn't help). Wouldn't post... nothing. Tried it a week later. Same results. Zapped the crap out of it with a 9 volt battery and tried it again, and whaddya know, it worked.

Hardware can be weird sometimes. Oh, by the way, there wasn't any kind of warranty on it. I wouldn't recommend trying anything dumb like that if there's some kind of warranty.

Well I tried flashing my bios twice when I was troubleshooting it. First time didn't help and I redid it again to make sure it didn't screw up during the first time. Nothing.
It was running stable for over a year in dual channel.

I had it running in dual channel for over a year with no problems up until last month. I had it in slots 2 & 3.
