Dfi rd600 based motherboard --pics

it should do dual 16x crossfire cause it has the RD580 northbridge.
I'm still hoping it comes out in october(unlikely)and that if it comes out availablitiy is good.

after trying to find more info on the ati chip ..i see that it will support 3, 16x lanes (48 total lanes available) -- 1 is for physics. Which, i guess is exactly what the nvidia 590 will have also.

That will be one killer board.I just wish it'll come out in october.Cause thats when i'm buying. And i can't put it off further.
I hope those pics aren't those of the final production sample.Cause i don't see many audio outputs.Nor do i see the legendary parallel port.(no major gripe.will need to get an adapter for me old printer)And also by the looks of it.If u use really long cards like the x1900 line.U might have block sata ports.(which is a bad thing)All the more reason i wouldn't want those pics to be that of the final production board.

wow..that is great attention to detail.. i didn't even think of those possible downsides.

But, if you look at the pic with the graphic cards slotted ...it does look like there will be enough room for the sata cables..only that you would have to put them in first.

But ya, you make some very good points.

edit: and i also hope there is an external sata port 🙂

I just want to know if the NB heatsink is enough that you won't have to stick a fan to it.

I like it though...heres to hoping it overclocks well, cause if not it's gonna be disappointing for me.

The mobo looks sweet!. Regarding the video cards: WTF is that crap on the top of the cards!?!? ATI promised dongle-less connection so now they are using some kind of ribbon cable on the top of the card (Nvidia style). That's pretty weak - I expected dongle-less to mean that it would do it all via the motherboard, not switch to what they should have been doing all along (internal solution).

The 3 PCI-e 16X cards looks really sweet. Are they going to come out with thinks like RAID controllers for PCI-e? Because they could sure use the extra bandwidth! (screw the physics card!)

heh, the depressing thing about that link is that it says rd600 is expected to be out in the summer. SO i hope they don't delay it past october!

well this part is a shame. never was a big fan of amd/ati but i am willing them success. yes get worried intel guess you need nvidia after all.

@cmdrdredd
looking at this pic you shoud be able fit a better heatsink on the nb with no problem

The sources also pointed out that Intel's licensing agreement with ATI limits the front-side bus (FSB) clock speed to 1066MHz and slower, so when Intel unveils its new FSB specification at 1333MHz next year, ATI may not be allowed to roll out chipsets supporting the new specification. Because of these reasons, the sources claimed that ATI has revealed to motherboard makers that it will not invest further in Intel platforms.

The RAID controllers for PCIe are available since months. You must not use them a lot.

Yes but the board can do async memory timings so the strap doesn't effect your CPU overclock. You can run your MB at 530MhzFSb and CPU at say 530x7 for 3.7Ghz and your memory can stay at DDR2-800 so you never have to worry about your memory having to do DDR2-1000+. Sounds tasty. Although I did read that memory bandwidth is less because of the different timings on the controller. We'll have to wait for reviews to know whether or not this adversly affects performance.

Sexy! I just hope that this is a very solid performing board!

Ooooooooh and there is EIGHT SATA ports and all internal too! 😀

Those pictures aren't taken at very good angles, but the board looks very nice. This is the one I'm waiting for before buying a Core 2. I hope the RD600 is as good as all the rumors say.
