I have put together a new system consisting of:

Athlon 64x2 5000+ default speed
DFI nforce 590 sli
4 gig of crucial ballistix ram.
2 x 6800 gt sli
1x 200 gig maxtor hdd ide
1 x 320 gig seagate hdd sata
nec dvd-r
audigy 2 zs
pc power and cooling 750 watts quad sli psu.

I have flashed the mobo with the latest bios. The problem that I encounter is whenever I turn on the pc, it hangs at C1 error which I know is memory related. I have to restart it three times and finally it boots and posts.

The system has been working fine except this startup C1 error which I do not know how to fix.

Any thoughts on how to fix this startup error.

Thanks.

Sounds like bad ram. Test each piece of ram by using one at a time booting each piece in a different slot. Should take you a bit to check it. Breakdown: 4 sticks of RAM x 4 Slots = 16 differnt cases for error. Good luck..

Are you running two or four sticks of RAM? Four sticks stress the memory controller a bit more than two, and either upping the Vcore voltage or memory voltage a bit may cure the problem.

Try the Vcore first since the memory contoller is located on the processor. Up to 1.45V is considered pretty safe for X2s.

Ballistix are nice RAM, so making sure they are running a specified voltage (or just a hair above) should keep them happy. Wouldn't go over 2.1V though.
