DFI NFII Lan Party

SVC and Newegg are most likely going to be the best prices on the net 😉

SVC might still be running a 'free hat + tshirt with NF2 DFI LP purchase' =)

The with-shipping price may make Newegg cheaper, unless you are getting other things from SVC. SVC has combined shipping charges that goes up slowly. Newegg charges a certain shipping per item. (If you get three floppies that have $5 shipping, the shipping is $15.)

I was kind of shocked that Newegg has a new version of that DFI motherboard, stripped of all the expensive Lan Party features, for $96 shipped (NFII ULTRA-AL.)

A careful examination of the pictures indicates that the mobos are identical, but with a lot of things not soldered in. A nice deal for people that just want the high quality motherboard.

Obviously no carryng strap, no Lan Party logo, no Frontx front connector box, no round UV green cables. Besides that, no green UV sockets, no black colored mobo, no diagnostic LEDs, no on-board power indication lights, no on-board reset and power button. Nice add-ons, but all very easy to do without. Looks like no SATA cable. It has the same one SATA arrangement. SATA will become the norm in the next few years, so this is good to have. No Firewire, or parallel RAID, or second LAN; serious functional reductions, but all rarely used.

The back connector section is different, but instead of just blank spots, it is rearranged to accomodate all the on-board devices, so you don't need extra brackets occupying PCI positions, which is good.

It does have on-board audio and LAN, of course. And that single on-board SATA HD controller. Since DFI says it has the "Genie" BIOS, it appears to have the same OC features.

it does have a single onboard LAN, and I will find out just how 'stripped' down it is within the week =). The Genie BIOS, if the same as the LanParty's Genie BIOS, makes it a great deal @ $96.00 (kinda surprised me as a lot of the NF2 boards are getting rather expensive as of late).
