Plan on using Corsair Value Select PC3200 on this board. Can anyone confirm it works perfect?

yeah itl work. I had to use some generic PC2700 that came in a Gateway to get mine to boot up correctly the first time :p

What was causing it to not boot up? Bad memory or unsupported memory? Can someone confirm that the Corsair Value Select works though? Anyone using this memory in it?

umm not sure exactly. Just didnt like my single stick of memory until I used the others to load optimised BIOS defaults. works fine now with mine :)

I have that combo. I'm just getting to tweaking it, but it does NOT run at stock voltage and timings. I had to bump the voltage up to 2.8 to get it to run stable. I got a couple errors at 2.7V, and a ton at 2.6V. It does run really stable at 2.8, and supposedly (don't take my word for it) the warranty is still valid up to and including 2.9V. I think it was worth it to save the money over the TCCD stuff.

Anybody else have experience with this combo? I have both ready to assemble but want to know of any problems before proceeding.

wow isnt 2.8 kinda high? You had to run 2.8 to run at stock PC3200 speeds?

Kinda odd

Yep, 2.8 just for stock speeds. 2.7 was _almost_ stable, but not quite. I have it going right now at 2.4ghz cpu with a 166 divider, so the ram is actually running at almost exactly 200mhz. Its working well. Beware though, on some of the lower dividers the bios sets aggressive timings that won't work, you need to add em in yourself. Also for some reason the cpu only overclocks if i manually set the mult to 10, if I set it to auto it crashes at really low speeds. The cpu is great though, runs stable at 2.4 at 1.5 vcore, though its reporting only getting 1.45. If its really being undervolted its doing really well, 20% overclock with .05 extra volts.

well thats gay

I might have to go with a different board then. Then again it could be a BIOS thing. Anyone else having the same problem?

might find that intresting, in a good way

That thread is exactly why i went with the value select. Too bad it doesn't work too well...
I'm thinking one of the "auto" settings in the bios is setting somthing too aggresively. I'd like to set all the parameters manually, but I really don't know what a lot of them do or what a reasonable value would be. If anyone knows what some nice conservative settings would be so I can try to bump down the voltage, let me know. Weirdly enough 3-4-4-8 crashes immediately when windows loads (240 bus, 166 divider=200mhz), but 2.5-3-3 will run fairly stable, but crashes in prime95, so I know there is somthing kinda funky going on here.

I've seen people report they need more voltage with Samsung TCCD on the DFI nF4 compared to other boards.

I have big news. I set the Max Async Latency setting to 7ns, and I can suddenly run my memory at 2.5V. I also set TRAS to 8, since according to anand thats the optimum setting. Previously it would not even boot with anything less than 2.7, and took 2.8 to run stable. I am now VERY happy with my value select.

I just got this board last night. I have finally determined my instablility is due to my RAM (couldn't even install windows using it). I have $300 worth of Kingston KHX3200AK2/1G and it won't work. This ram works fine in other boards. I tested both sticks with a hardware memory tester today at work. I also ran Memtest86 on the ram in a couple different boards. Passed with flying colors. If I run Memtest86 with this ram in my new DFI N4 Ultra it fails on tests 5 & 6! Ironically I threw in a pair of cheap Nynix(?) PC3200U CL3 ECC 256MB it runs fine. Can anybody help?

That link is suppose to show supported ram. Mine isn't on it, but there seems to be a lot of errors listed so not sure how well I trust it.

I have tried tweaking the memory timings in the BIOS. But nothing I do seems to work. My memory timings are 2-3-2-6-1 if anybody can shed some light.

I am going to try setting that Max Async Latency to 7ns and see what happens.

Hate to have to purchase another gig of ram. Dammit.

I called DFI. They said Value Select should work but I don't think the tech guy knew for sure. He also mentioned that list. I asked if that was all the memory that the DFI supports or just the known memory. He said it was the known/confirmed memory that worked fine. This board seems to have issues with memory. I am debating on wether I should go with it or the MSI or something. I was looking forward to this board not as much as o/cing as the UV slows, cables, ect that comes with it.

I was gonna order within the next week or 2 but I think I will either go with something else or wait a while till some issues get resolved.

Well I changed my Max Async Latency setting to 7ns and voila! My Kingston KHX3200AK2/1G passed Memtest86 for the first time. Running Windows right now with it. TJmoney, you have made my day!

Glad I could help. My value select will run at 225mhz with 2.8V. I'm not sure if its stable since I didn't test it much, but thats really good for value ram. I'm running right now with mem at 216mhz 2.6v, 1:9(180) ratio with a 240 bus. I'm pretty sure the memory is stable, since I was able to bootstrap gentoo (BIG compile), which had been failing before at stock speeds and 2.7v before I set the max async latency. I did one pass in memtest, which it passed, though I really need to let it run for 40 or 50 passes to be sure. I let it prime95 last night, which it failed after about an hour and a half, but I think that was the CPU. I bumped the vcore up to 1.475 from the 1.45 it was at., and its working right now.
