DFI motherboard with xp1800?

snidy

Senior member
Hi,
I have an xp1800 on a DFI board. (AK75-EC) When I set the CPU FSB to 266 so that it will run at 1.53 it gives me protection errors instantly when trying to load windows. I was able to format and install WIN ME at that speed, but as soon as i try to boot from the drive it gives me a blue screen protection error. (Usually in loading NTKERNEL)
When I put the jumper back on it runs fine at 1150mhz. I booted to windows and got the latest BIOS flash but that didnt help.
I then formatted and tried to install XP but it wont even let me get to the file copy phase without giving a blue screen error.
The jumpers on the board are set to AUTO and seem to be detecting it fine. It just seems that Windows doesnt like the 266FSB setting.
Any help on this please?

Check your PCI bus speed and be sure your divider is set correctly. It sounds lik your machine is willing to run at the higher FSB but may not like the PCI bus speed........
