DFI MB on Newegg

QueBert

Lifer
looking to get a DFI P35 T2R, Newegg has 2 listings, different prices, different item numbers, both retail. I thought maybe the cheaper one was an open box but it doesn't seem that way. One has a black heatsink and looks like it's missing the heatpipes. And it looks like the slots are lighter green.

Did DFI have a revision of this board? Google isn't turning up any information and I'm curious.
I'm assuming it's the same board just with a different heatsink and no heatpipes. not sure if anything else has been changed on it though.

Linky to $199 one

linky to $239 one

ones a UT and the other is a LT. The UT being the one with more features and a higher overclock capabilities AFAIK

damn I didn't notice the UT/LT thing, well I want the UT so I guess I'll drop the extra 40 bucks. Thanks for the heads up

Actually from what I've read the only difference between the two is the transpiper, which only comes with the UT. The LT (aka 'lite') version is otherwise identical and was released after the UT as not everyone wanted the transpiper, and from what I've read it's not really worth the $40 premium. I just ordered the LT version myself yesterday, so I been looking into this very question and that's the answer I got. Also, newegg is off on the spec about the LT. It does indeed have 3 PCI-E slots at x16, same as the UT. They show it in the pics, but only list 1 in the specs. If you check DFI's site however, it lists them the same as the UT.

hummmm I don't know if I want the transpipe, I might even end up watercooling the northbridge, if it's the same feature wise and 40 bucks cheaper I'll jump on it. 3 slots does nothing for me as I have Nvidia and getting SLI working on p35 boards isn't easy? Don't even know 100% it's possible I hear a lot of different stories and haven't done any research into it.

If it's UV and has everything minus the pipes it's good enough for me.

Yeah the only SLI intel mobo's are the nvidia ones, so no SLI with this board. However, I'm in the same boat, I run a single G92 GTS but I still opted for this board. Heck, I'll have access to all my PCI slots atleast lol, as they put the PCI-E 1x slots below the top x16 slot which is the only I'll be using. I picked the LT in the end for the exact same reason, I won't use the transpipe, and from what I've read that's the exact reason they released the LT version.

That couldn't be right because why would the add the mounting holes for the trans-piper on the LT then 😵.

Now let's just throw a wrench into this.

DK Version:

^ That doesn't have the trans-piper but I don't know if it out yet.

Yeah, it still has the holes ect because it is the exact same board without the actual transpiper. Seems to make sense at $40 cheaper, as that's around the price of an aftermarket CPU heatsink.
That DK version I haven't seen, so not sure what the story is on it, however I noticed right away only 1 x16 pci-e slot. Not sure what else, if anything, is different. I'll have to check the specs later when I got more time.

I'm currently trying to decide between the DK and LT. I don't plan to run any more than 1 video card, so what else does the DK lack other than more PCIe slots?

The DK has on board audio and only 6 SATA on 1 raid controller. The LT has the Bernstein audio module, 8 SATA on 2 raid controllers and an onboard firewire port. As far as I can tell those are the only differences other than the ones you mentioned.
