how about those who wish to purchase this mobo and keep not do no OCing at all, will it still be a hassle to the user?

what are the issues people run into to claim its more hassle with tweaking and all bit in the end its worth it..
etc etc...
all i ever hear about DFI is that its great but with hassle.
noone ever explains what those hassles are.....

it gives you a ton of options in the bios on tweaking timings, speeds, and all sorts of things. you wont know what half the things are and some of them may NEED to be changed. it may take a while for you to get everything up and running. if you aren't going to OC its a waste of money.

go here and browse around keeping in mind its a support forum so people who post there normally do so because they have a problem. note what components people are using and what they are doing to either have success or failure.

i've installed 4 dfi nf4's (the 5th should be here momentarily) and every one has gone flawlessly. you don't have to tweak anything until you're ready to.

the key is to research, surround it with good quality parts and take your time. like any new build, don't throw the parts together and expect to oc it 50% and then install windows. do things properly and its really not a hard board at all.

aye I understand, i just wanted to know the "CON" I been hearing about DFI.
like I said previously.
everyone says and explains what the PRO is and than all they have to save is "it has Cons"
me - what aare the Cons?
others: just Cons with tweaking
me - Like?
others - Like Cons...

you know.. so i was a bit frustrated.
thx though

yeah, the con is people who have never used one parroting what they heard. nevermind that they never tried one, they are listening to people who they have no idea of their competence.

There are potential problems with every build. Like rise4310, I've done more than 1 build with the DFI and both are running perfectly. This was way back in Jan/Feb and the word wasn't out that Corsair Value ram didn't play well with the DFI. So, I did have to do some tweaking-- i.e. had to only use 1 stick of ram to get XP to install, then was able to install the other stick after... yet the other build did not have this problem... odd.

Since then, though, both builds are running perfectly, with the Corsair VS ram that everyone said just flat out doesn't work with this board.

There are a lot of other things to like about the DFI board, other than its tweaking and overclock potential. I like the layout. I like the fact that an XP-120 fits it. I like the CMOS reloaded. I like that fact that installing a SATA drive was easy and needed no driver disk. And, most of all, I like the active support community that exist out there, such as DFI street.

thank you cause I want to get this board when I do start to build my rig.
4400+ 7800 GTX 2x1gig OCZ rams
granted I know squat about OC and I wont be OC anytime soon but the potential is there for me when im rdy to OC once I need the extra power down the road.

let me rephrase, I will be OC but not anytime soon and want to get the most out of it. Since the rest of my rig setup is rdy to be OC when I need to:
Zalaman HSF, 600w PSU, P180, with the fans properly placed for intake/exhaust optimized as noted from another thread I read which having the top as the exhaust.

and than there the OC guide and the DFI link rise provided has guides as well for newbies new to OC with DFI board.

Most of the problems with the DFI are people, not the board itself. For example DFI requires a native 24 pin PSU with at least 480w, too many people try to use a 20 pin and 350w- 400w psu's. The DFI NF4 boards have 4 power connectors that need to be plugged in, some people don't think they all need to be plugged in. The DFI boards are a little picky when it comes to memory, some memory like Mushkin and OCZ usually work just fine from the get go in auto, some like the Corsair VS need some tweaking before they work just fine. There are a lot of BIOS' out there and some work better with TCCD, TCC5 and others work better with BH5, CH5. Some BIOS' have problems running some ram in the yellow slots,... I could go on and on but it would be easier for you the lurk around DFIstreet.com, see what combos work well together, listen and abide by DFI's recommendation on parts and you will have a great system.

I have a 350 watt PSU and my DFI runs fine. I have not overclocked, so I may run into power problems if I do. But at stck speeds 350 is fine. I like the board so far. I had to load a beta bios to recognize my Sempron 64 and I don't like the tubed ide ribbin cables (hard to seat and move around). But all in all I like it. I is very expandable. I sorta wish I had gone with a 939 board so I could upgrade to dual core at some date. But I am sure this board will be more than I need for years to come.:)

My DFI did not require any tweaking. It worked from the start. Of course I did some mild tweaking anyways, but it worked fine.
