Hey, I'm going to be building my first computer within a few days/weeks. I was thinking of building a computer with this motherboard. Would you recommend it to a first time builder? Right now, i'll probably use stock speeds (i've yet to learn how to overclock, maybe ill do it later). Is it really difficult to get everything set up?

Here's my build:

AMD A64 3000+ Venice
MSI K8N Neo4-F
Antec LifeStyle Sonata II
BFG GeForce 6600GT OC
Corsair ValueSelect 1GB - I heard this ram doesn't work with this mobo?
WD Caviar SE 80GB SATA

Also, is the AMD A643000+ the same as an Intel 3.0Ghz?

Nah not really.

Use a 24 pin PSU (ATX 2.0) and plug all leads in (including Molex and floppy connector). Wouldn't even think of overclocking until you know it's all stable.

There plenty of useful info at the DFI Forums

Read the critical and non-critical stickies.

// And to answer the OP question, yes a 3000+ is the rough equivalent of a P4 3.0GHz. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it isn't. They're about the same.
