I see that I can grab this board for $116.00 shipped. Is this a good deal? I'm planning to buy and build my rig in late August before school starts for me. I'll likely pair it up with this:

AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+* 939pin OEM $120.00
or
AMD Athlon 64 3200+retail $190.00

I'm still debating between these two for the DFI motherboard. I also plan to overclock but only to some extent. Possibly to about 2.4Ghz or a little above that number with air.

Thanks!

Could you show me the link where you're getting it for $116? It might be refurbished or something. The processors are both great, but I would recommend the 3200+ Venice, since it has a higher multiplier, which should ease overclocking for you.

It's $122 now :p

Edit : Yeah that board is perfect. Comes with all the necessities plus a hardware audio solution. Not to mention that it'll be able to take your 3000+ Venice up to 2.6GHz+ with air cooling :)

Good deal. Newegg is stupid with their pricing though... I swear I saw it for $122 - $6 = $116. Now it's $132 - $10 = $122 ;).
Get the 3000+ btw, save the cash and use it on a better video card, that'll do you more good than 200 mhz :p.

Get the 3000+ if you are using the DFI board. I had a 3200+, and have a 3000+ now (both Venices). It's luck of the draw how they clock, but my 3000+ OCs MUCH better than the 3200+. I can get 2.835GHz with 1.55V on the 3000+, and 2.75GHz with 1.575V on the 3200+. With the DFI board, the high HTT isn't anything to be afraid of (I can do 315*9 stable). Save the money on a video card, or keep it, or whatever. The only upgrade I would think of from a 3000+ is maybe a 3700+ for the cache, or an X2. If you are overclocking, you have to try for 3GHz+ before the DFI board will become a bottleneck.
