DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 Ultra-D boot problem

First, here are the specs of my computer's hardware:

EAGLE TECH / Sky Hawk USA 570W Power Supply w/native 24-pin main power cord
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939 @ 2.0 GHz
XFX Geforce 6600 PCI-E Video Card w/ 128MB DDR
Corsair Value Select 2 x 512MB
Western Digital 80GB S-ATA Hard Drive
Plextor S-ATA DVD +/- R/RW Combo Drive
AOpen IDE 52x CD Drive
SONY 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Drive

The Problem:
I am at the point where I need to install an OS (I am using Windows XP Pro). I put the Windows XP CD into the DVD drive and wait for the computer to start up. After a few minutes the screen has the following:

Verifying DMI Pool Data ...........
Boot from CD :
Boot from CD :
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

Does anyone know the specific problem and how could I fix it?

My boot order is:
Removable Devices
CDROM
Hard Disks

Try the XP cd in the other drive.

I did and the same message comes up.

Disconnect the Plextor. Jumper the CDROM as master on its own IDE channel.

Well I would reset the BIOS just for the hell of it.

I tried that but still the same thing...I don't think it is anything to do with the optical drives, I think it may have something to do with the SATA Hard Drive.

I can try resetting the CMOS and BIOS. I have heard that my mobo is a pain to set up, and that doing random things can sometimes fix the problem.

I agree with you in that it maybe the SATA, do you have a spare IDE around to see if maybe you boot up with and IDE

I don't have a spare, but I was thinking about buying a small 10GB or maybe even 20GB hd for installing windows on so I could separate my documents and games and such from the windows system files. (This would be as opposed to partitioning my 80GB hd). I could go ahead and buy an IDE for the initial loading of my comp and then install the 80GB later, once Windows is up and running.

Here're some suggestions.
- Make sure you plug in all of the power connectors to the mobo. There are 4 of them. Check the manual.
- Use only 1 stick of RAM and place it in bank #2(the orange slot closest to the edge of the mobo).
- Go into the BIOS and make sure all of the fans are set to run at full speed.

Okay, really cool, but a little annoying...I reset the CMOS and BIOS settings, unplugged and replugged every wire/cord, and used one stick of ram in slot two...only to find out that it was the CD that was bad. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

When I put one module of my Corsair Value boot up OK, but when I put 2 modules does not boot up!

I already made bios updade and downdate from this link:Here

I put Bios 310;510-2;618-3;623 and 702....

I don't know what I have to make now! Help me please!

There is supposedly some compatibility issues with that board and corsair value, do a search and see what you can find. I am using PQI turbo with mine, and it's working good, OCZ seems to be the most recomended brand for that motherboard.

Yea the DFI NF4 boards do not like Corsair Value Ram (one of the most well known brands... go figure).

As far as trying to Boot Windows XP for initial format I don't think it is the SATA drive. I've got very similar parts DFI NF4 Ultra-D, 3200+ Vience, Corsair XMS, Seagate Sata HD, and I had absolutely no problems. Personally, I would double check that your Windows XP CD is legit

Do either of you with the DFI ultra-d have any problems with the nvidia network controller? Whenever I do anything that connects to the internet, I get a BSOD. If I disable the nvidia one, and use the marvel instead, it works fine..
