DFI LanParty UT CFX3200 Problem

Basicly i recently got a new job which pays more and since my processor is fine for now i decided to pick up a new motherboard so i could crossfire a couple of the new ATI X2900 XTXs. So i picked up a DFI Lanparty UT CFX3200 to replace my Abit KN8. I havent picked uo the X2900 XTXs yet obviously because they were only supposed to be released today even though i see now record of them but i do have my new DFI installed.

When i first installed it everything worked except my BIOS was the old version and when i started it up my HDs would spin up and then stop then spin up and then stop and so on for about 3 minutes before it would post and then boot. It also when i turned off the PC would automatically turn back on even though i didnt hit the button unless i flicked the switch on my PSU.

I flashed the BIOS and it fixed the problem with my hard drives but not the problem with it restarting. I then continued and my sound wasnt working so i downloaded the latest drivers after using my install disc to install my LAN drivers only. I did that and then downloaded the sound drivers and installed them without a restart. I then downloaded the Omega drivers for my ATI X850 XT that im currently using. I then restarted and it was completely screwed up and wouldnt get into windows but would still post and all that. So i reverted back to last known good settings and did everything over again except i used ATI's drivers instead of Omega and it worked. I didnt test my sound i just assumed it worked. I downloaded Xfire and Teamspeak and once teamspeak was installed it told me that i didnt have proper sound drivers or something like that.

I had remembered when i restarted after the Omega drivers screwing up that i put my DVD rom in the IDE 1 slot and my HDs were running in the correct SATA slots but since IDE is given priority i switched the IDE while the PC was off to the second IDE channel.

Well when i realised that my sound driver wasnt working i put my CD into my DVD drive and it wasnt autoplaying it so i opened "My computer" to open it manually and it did not detect it. So i figured maybe it doesnt work in that channel so i turned off the PC and disconnected power then switched it back to the first IDE channel. It still doesnt work.

So now my problem is my DVD RW drive does not work. it shows up in device manager with a yellow question mark, it opens and closes perfectly but it doesn't show up in "My Computer" and it wont play discs.

Second problem is my sound still doesnt work and i obviously have to fix my first problem before i can try using my Disc to solve me second problem even though i doubt that will fix it.

Any and all ideas are welcome as long as they are intelligent lol

Thanks,

My sound doesnt work either. How did you fix the sound? I ended up just buying an Audigy2.

Also, my computer also does the restart thing. Pretty annoying.

This board is a great overclocking board, but the BIOs settings have to be perfect or else it is completely unstable. All in all, I definitely liked my DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra board better.

Is there a reason why you didnt wait for the RD600 mobo? If you are going to definitely go X2900XT CF, then I would suggest you at least wait for R600 to release to make sure that there are no problems running Crossfire on the older chipset.

there shouldnt be a problem, this has two unrestricted x16 lanes. But i fixed the sound by getting the latest drivers and i also noticed they mislabeled the backplate. Just put your speaker into different ports until it works properly then make note of it. you can also tell which one it should be in by the software that shows the true port layout. As for the restarting i have no idea how to fix it but a guy at the store told me that its a setting in the BIOS somewhere under power management.

As for crossfire, i highly doubt ill end up running the R600 in crossfire before i end up buying a whole new rig. Im saving my X850 XT for this reason.. i have a feeling that within 6 months ill have a new system and my R600s will be going in that and the X850 XT will be shunned back into this PC as a server or HTPC
