lanparty comes with 1 IDE connector and 4 SATA connectors.
i have 4 IDE drives.... 2 HDD and 2 disc drives.
the board also came with a SATA/PATA adaptor.

i'm not familiar with the adaptor, so i tried to wing it. i plugged the adaptor directly into the drive then plugged the sata cable into the adaptor and slot 1 (also tried slot 4) on the mobo. it was getting power, because the bay door was opening. i tried the jumper in master and cbsel and no jumper. it never showed up in the bios or windows. did i miss something???? how do i get this darn thing to work. no troubles with my first system build til now. any advice would be great... thanks.
 
travis at tech support at dfi says you can only use the converter on HDD's, not optical drives.... go figure.

just answering my own question in case someone uses the search engine instead (fat chance).
