DFI LanParty UT 250gb Ethernet Problem

Ok, i just got this DFI LanParty UT nF3 250gb motherboard, and im trying to connect online using the onboard ethernet but I cant get connected. I've installed the drivers that were in the cd, and I've also tried setting the mac address thats on the motherboard for the ethernet port, and still no luck. i have a PCI Ethernet card that I installed and still cant connect to the internet. Can someone please help?

Are you using the nForce3 ethernet controller, or are you using the Marvell controller?

i checked under system properties and it says nVidia nForce Networking Controller

Are you sure you've got the ethernet cable plugged into the right NIC in the back, then? 😉

You can disable the ethernet in the Genie BIOS, maybe you did this.

If that were the case, it wouldn't be showing up in the device manager.

In the device manager, is there a ! next to the nForce Network controller?

Did you install Nvidia firewall? I ran into this problem with the nVidia firewall and I didn't have the patience to figure out how to work it, so I just unistalled it and got my internet connection back.

NAM has had some inherent issues. That's certainly a possibility.

no ethernet is is enabled, also i havent installed the nvidia firewall, because i need to install SP2, it wont let me install it unless i install sp2

If you installed the ethernet drivers and did not install the firewall, it should establish an internet connection after you reboot. I don't know what else it might be besides bad hardware. 😕

Assuming you're using a cable modem connection and are directly connecting it into your PC with no routers involved:

Turn off your computer.

Unplug the power to your cable modem. Wait a minute or two. Power on the modem. Wait another minute or two. Power on the PC.

See if that works. Many cable modems need to be reset when switching to a new computer.
