Hello,
Just built a new system, but can't get it to go into SLI mode. The multi-GPU option exists, but does not allow you to enable it, stating that there are not two compatible SLI capable video cards. Here's the specs:
AMD Opteron 170
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR
2gb PC3200 DDR (2x1 gb)
2 x Biostar Geforce 7800GTX 256mb
300gb SATA
Creative Labs X-Fi
Looked around other forums and found some others having this problem, but the only solution provided stated that the problem originated with the SLI bridge chip being on backwards. I have tried reversing this chip several times to no avail.
Both video cards are detected by Windows and display in the Device Manager. I tried both cards individually and both worked fine as well. I have also updated the motherboard drivers to the latest version as well as flash the BIOS to its latest version (11/14/2005).
A few other posts mentioned that it may be a compatibility issue with the latest NVidia driver, something stemming from the fact that they recently introduced multi-vendor support for SLI. I have tried their newest beta driver as well as some of their older drivers, still no luck.
Interestingly, when you first install the video driver (old, new, beta), it pops up the bubble window indicating that your system is ready for SLI, click here to enable it. But when you do that, it states again that it cannot do so.
Is my SLI bridge chip the culprit here?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
