DFI LanParty PRO875 --> new bios = no sound?

I just installed my new lanparty board. This thing rocks, by the way. First thing I did was flashed the latest bios(dated 7/22/03) from the web. Installed windows, and got everything working, except the sound. The driver install claims the audio chip is not on this board. I thought that was a little wierd, but I just continued to install drivers and whatnot. I *accidentally* installed RadarSync. It found an "updated" bios dated 5/30/03 and installed it. Oh well, says I, and let it reboot. When it came back up, tada!, I had sound. Huh . . . wierd. I installed the latest bios again, and . . . bye bye sound. Anyone else seen anything like this?

Hi NyquilDriv,

I have not heard of this issue. I have the I875, flashed to latest BIOS, and my sound is working properly.

When you flashed the BIOS, did you follow these steps:

1. after flashing the BIOS, immediately enter the BIOS, load optimized (or failsafe) defaults, save, exit, and reboot, then go back into BIOS and manually set everything how you like it?

2. Have you made sure the audio controller is enabled in the BIOS?

also make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest version of RadarSynch.

If none of this helps, pleases PM/post back and I will do whatever I can to get it working, if not, DFI will replace the board without hassle =)

yes, I followed that procedure. yes, audio is set to "auto" in the bios. yes, I have the latest version of radarsync. I suppose I could give you a few more details. I have a p4 1.6A running at 2 GHz. I wish the board would allow me to overclock a bit more, 132 FSB is way lower than my old mobo. Also, my DDR333 ram(2 256MB KingMax) which only runs at 266 with the older bios, runs at 332 with the new bios. I am using the onboard IDE RAID with 2 120GB Maxtor Drives in a RAID 0 Array. Pioneer 16X DVD Drive. TDK 24X Burner. GeForce 4 Ti 4400. I downloaded all the latest drivers from the internet. I think that is about it. What next?

unfortunately, 132 is the max FSB you will see with the Northwood A cpu (what my 875DFI has in it so i feel your pain heh...but hey I got a 577Mhz overclock out of it so far!)

do me a favor and check your IRQ assignments in the BIOS but mainly check them out in Windows. If any IRQ's are being shared, please list them (RAID IRQ wants to share with other devices sometimes).

Ok, IRQ16 = USB, USB, and Geforce 4
IRQ18 = IDE, USB, LAN
IRQ19 = USB, USB

The sound device is not even listed. I don't know how to tell in the bios what IRQ's are shared. Everything there is set to AUTO. Next?

Thanks for your help by the way!
