Hi I recently took out my pc which was mothballed for a few years and when i started it up it wouldn't boot up and kept beeping. I found out the battery had die so I put a new one in and obviously all the settings have gone. I'm trying to get it back to what it was but so far had no luck apart from that I can only use one stick of Corsair CMX512-3200C2PT and have another 3 sticks to install but it keeps beeping. I would be grateful if someone can tell me what BIOS settings I should use to get it back to normal. Do I need to update my BIOS and also the last time I updated it was about 5 years ago roughly. If you require any further details on the PC i'll try and provide it. Thanks if you can help.

I went through something similar when I tried to get my old DF4 Ultra D up and running again a few months back, after years of sitting around, collecting dust.

The main thing with the board is getting the memory stable. You can try holding down 'Insert' during post to use fail-safe BIOS settings. You can also try POSTing with a single stick of RAM in different slots to see if that helps you make it into BIOS setup to try either restoring up previously saved settings (if you saved some good ones back in the day) or start working towards reliably POSTing/Memtest'ing with more DIMM slots populated.

You would use either both yellow, or both orange. For dual channel using only 2 sticks, that is.

BIOSes for that board were pretty wild and, depending on the kind of chips on your RAM sticks and BIOS revision, different colored slots would be recommended.

I'd say that once you get it POSTing with one stick, you should put another one into the second same-color slot. Test those settings+sticks to your satisfaction. Then pull that pair and do the same for the other pair.

The s939 IMC had something of a hard time with all four slots populated, so you should make sure that all four sticks are working well in pairs before you start working towards finalizing settings with both pairs installed.

Has the system stopped beeping and made it into BIOS setup yet?

i stalled one in slot 2 orange and second slot 4 orange and it works. What I will do now is take these out and make sure that the other two sticks are working in the same slots. When it did beep it was about a 2 second gap.

Also is there a new BIOS for this MB.

Here is some more info on the MB.
the BIOS is Phoenix - Award Workstation v6.00PG. the BIOS date going by the screenshot that I have is:
04/06/2006-NF-CK804-6A61FD49C-00 2.21GHz
AMD Athlon 64 3500+

Update it looks that it's back to how it was before the battery died. Thanks for the advice. Found out that I needed to disable the command per clock and also have the voltage to 2.8v and that as already set.
