DFI LANParty NF4 SLI-DR: The Overclockers nirvana gateway!

Well, here it is, the LANParty NF4 SLI-DR was finally announced by DFI:

- The press release

- The full specs

- The board itself !!!

Amazing:

- " (...)support memory voltage from 2.5V to 4.0V" - Hellooo 😀 OCZ DUAL CHANNEL PC3200 GOLD VX (CL 2-2-2-8 at 3.2V >250 HTT 1:1) !!!

- "The conductive polymer (electrolytic) aluminum solid capacitors provide high resistance to over-voltage and reverse voltage as compared with other capacitors, making them the ideal choice for overclocking and mission critical "

- "To further provide maximum cooling on-board, both motherboards feature DFI?s first magnetic levitation chipset cooling fan that moves almost twice the air compared to standard chipset fans while producing extremely little noise. Thanks to magnetic levitation technology, the spinning fan blades ?float? in a magnetic field and thereby dramatically reduces friction, wear and tear, and heat generation. All of these hardware implementations directly contribute to cooler, quieter and longer lasting motherboards."

- Well cooled MOSFET's with heatsinks.

- "Audiophiles are entertained with the proprietary Karajan 8-channel audio solution. "

Still in shock, my greetings!

Someone had to say it.

I'm awful surprised by everyone crowning DFI the king without the boards even being out yet.

I mean, I love DFI, and their past stuff was great, but Nvidia was rollin' pretty strong until NV30...so we'll wait and see what happens.

Better voltage options than the A8N-SLI would be nice, but other than that, its specs read a lot like the A8N-SLI Deluxe.

The "proprietary Karajan" audio appears to be nothing more than the Realtek ALC850, which is the same as the A8N-SLI Deluxe.

The same dual-ethernet configuration as the A8N-SLI Deluxe. Just a different PHY on the nVidia ethernet.

The same dual-RAID configuration as the A8N-SLI Deluxe (4 on the nVidia controller, 4 on the Si 3114).

As far as I can tell, the DFI will offer better voltage options, and a 4x PCIe slot. That's it. As long as nothing nasty comes up in the reviews, then this board should be slightly better than the A8N-SLI Deluxe, but hardly something I would get excited about.

I like the extra space on the A8N-SLI Deluxe between the 16x PCI Express slots. It seems to me that there would be no room for the top 6800 Ultra card in an SLI configuration on the DFI board. And it would be most likely impossible to use 2 NV5 Silencers.

They have three nf4 based boards, and the Ultra model can do the same form of sli as the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum.
