I am planning on getting this board. But I believe I saw a post somewhere claiming that it wasn't a true SLI board due the lack of correct PCI-e slots .. or something. I'm new to the SLI scene on this and was looking for some input. I will be getting a 6600GT, one for now and another in a few months, and want to get the board ready. Is this a true SLI board?

No, the DFI NF4 Ulta-D isn't a true SLI board, for it has some Dual Xpress Graphics Technology. The SLI-DR is a true SLI baord though.

You may be thinking about this story on anandtech, where they converted an untra into an SLI with a little conductive paint. Looks promising, though there's questions about how much Nvidia's gonna love the idea.

As to your 6600GT plans: sounds fine to me, buying one now and another later. I'd ignore aeternitas' remark. Judging from the posting history he has an anti-talent for saying just the wrong thing to cheese people off.

And yes. I can't afford the 6800's as much as I would love to spend $500 on a video card, my wife and checkbook yell other things at me :p I figure the 6600's will do me just fine. Though, they don't come in 256MB versions do they, can't seem to find any.

Pretty sure the DFI you're looking at is the same as the one in the anandtech review. I kinda wish now I'd held off on my NF4 purchase, since it looks interesting. DFI's a great brand too.

6600GT in a 256 MB configuration? Haven't seen any. There are ordinary 6600s with 256 megs of RAM, but IMO you're better off with a 6600GT, even at 128 megs. Too much raw HP difference for the 6600 to make up.
