I decided on a 3200xp upgrade, used all precautions ie wrist strap plug lead left in socket but turned off at the plug etc.
I'm using the swiftech462 heatsink which i had to remove the m/b to unbolt the heatsink, so on swapping the cpu replaced the m/b-heatsink and booted up.
The board powers up showing all leds lit on board (denotes ok) the hard drive led is flickering along with cdr as though it's going through boot process ..but no screen just black.
Now i have an asus 9800xt vga card and the fans on this just run for a couple of seconds and then stop.
I then borrowed my friends rig who as the same m/b as me and replaced is graphics card with mine and the same thing..... just a black screen,so i thought somehow must have blown the card.
I then put is card into my pc...same thing just a black screen so i've come to the conclusion the agp socket on my m/b must have blown too.
Now i new i had an earlier bios so i reflashed my mates bios with the most upto date one on DFI web site and then hot flashed his bios onto my board just in case their was a bios conflict that didn't support the 3200xp.
I've tried both bios' in his board and all ok.
I'm a bit reluctant at this moment in time to condem both items and was wondering any you guys have any thoughts?.
