3-4 weeks ago I purchased a DFI 875P-T MB, Intel CPU and 2gigs of Corsair RAM as a built-out for one of the manager's at my work (not my selection of hardware, just puting together what they picked out).
Upon receipt of the board, I found that it would not boot. Reset everything, tried 2 different PSUs, nothing worked. Called the company and was told that it was a known problem with the shipping bios chip and that they needed to send me a new chip for it to boot. 5 days later I receive 3 bios chips. I swap the chips and am finally able to boot the machine.
Fast-forward 2 weeks. My boss plugs in several USB devices, i.e. mouse, keyboard, card reader, etc. and the machine locks. Upon reboot the machine stalls prior to post and won't boot. I call DFI and am told that I need to replace the bios chip. I tell them I have already done this, but do it again at their behest, and it's a no go. They then tell me that they need the board back to investigate the issue, so I send it back while they send me a replacement.
Upon rceiving the replacement board we find that it won't boot either. I check the bios chip and see that they sent a board with the wrong chip. A little annoyed that they can't ensure they are sending out quality parts, but I swap out the 3rd bios chip they sent me with the faulty one. We get the machine up and running, he hooks up his equipment and bang, dead board again.
The hardware all worked in the previous Asus 845 board and I can plug it into an Albetron 845 board and it works as well. DFI says they have not received any such complaints and I can't find any information on the net concerning a bad run. So, now I sit here with a second dead DFI board, one pissed of CEO (its a small company) and am on hold with support that has yet to impress me. Any thoughts?
