Highest I could get my 2800+ up to on the chaintech or epox boards was 2403 mhz stable.

I just hit 2502 with the DFI board and still climbing, voltage at 1.68 volts, ram running 166 mhz divider, 2-2-2-10 (its bh-5 memory). Thats ddr 554 (227 mhz memory)

278 mhz FSB, 9 clock divider.

Lets see what this bad boy can really do.

If you recall, I hit a brick wall with 270 FSB, no matter what divider I used with the epox and chaintech boards..

Yeah the DFI is an awesome board I love it. I think I got only got an average OCer though the highest I can get is 267x9 or 2.4ghz with a 3000+ at 1.7v.

I love mine as well. Hit 2.5 at 1.7 with the Epox and right now I am at 2.6 at 1.6 with the DFI.

Really? That it? I got over 270mhz htt easy. I'll test tomorrow and see how high i can get the htt up. The highest i had it up was in the 80's.

did you try raising the chipset voltage?

Do you think that the DFI use somewhat "looser" timimngs to achieve the higher overclock?
What I meen is can you compare benchmarks from your chaintech and Epox boards @2400 with your new setup on the DFI @2500.

The reason I ask is I had a similar situation with my mobile XP-M 2400, on my Shuttle board it would hit around 2377mhz then I switched to an Abit NF7 and can do 2488 at the same voltage. Here is what I was finding, my memory benchmarks on the Abit @2488 were slightly lower or about the same than the shuttle @2377 running the same fsb. Same ram same, same ram timmigs. It was nice getting the faster overclock but I was surprised to see my Super PI, Sandra and PC Mark mem scores stay the same or drop slightly.

Mostly asking because I'm looking to upgrade to the DFI or the Chaintech mobo in the very near future.

Are you guys getting these OC's using IDE drives only or are you seeing similar performance with SATA's? I've got an Athlon 64 3200+ Clawhammer on an ASUS K8V Deluxe board (10x213, no lock) and looking to get a board that will overclock.

Yes!! I'll be getting a DFI board as soon as newegg gives me back the refund they've neglected for over 3 freakin weeks now. anyways, I was secretly hoping the DFI would yield higher OCs. I can get my 2800+ @2540ghz w/ 1.6vcore on my vnf3-250. I also hope to see what my ram can do seeing as it can do 270mhz w/ 2.8vcore on the vnf3-250

PS/ this is all w/ stock cooling and i will be getting a XP-120 as well.

Neptune,

what he means is that his 2800+ (1.8Ghz Clock) is running at 2.4Ghz Clock (>3500+) with a very low voltage = less heat.

Great OC for a cheap chip, cant beat that :)

I was able to get in 80s also my temp was getting a little high for my stock heat sink so i backed off.
will be getting a new heatsink today may try watercooling maybe i can hit mid 90s. the vnf3-250 rocks.
brickwall my a$$.oh and i was running stable i played doom3. and i still shoot my self in the bath room.
thanks BW86 the 3700+ claw hammer was a bad a upgrade. water cooling is better .:D
