DFI Expert hates my TCCD - advise on new RAM please!

I should have read more before purchasing this DFI Expert motherboard about the known problems with TCCx memory. I have 4x512MB sticks of OCZ Platinum Rev 2 (all TCCD) that I can't even get stable at default 166(333) speed. Very frustrating to say the least. I had these same sticks running 250(500) on the MSI K8N Platinum/SLI motherboard, but that is gone now so it is not gonna help. I am ready to throw in the towel and buy a 2x1GB kit as everyone seems to recommend. I want to be able to hit speeds in excess of 300(600) with timings no worse than 4-4-4-10 but would prefer 3-3-3-8 or better (not likely). Also, at what point does the higher FSB makes up for, and improve, performance lost by 2T versus 1T? Please help!

What bios do you have? What cpu do you have? The dfi expert can run at 1t if you use the 2 orange slots with just 2 sticks of memory at a high HTT value. You also can always use the memory dividers as well...

your problem might not be due to the 4 x 512 sticks, i'm getting ram problems with ocz's platinum 2 x 1gb ddr400 2-3-2-5 also. never overclocked, raised voltage to 2.7 to ATTEMP stability at stock speeds but no luck.pretty pissed off at dfi now but what can i do

I have an Opty 165 CPU and currently using the 12/07 BIOS. I have also tried the modified BIOS E704-2BT, but that seemed less stable than the official so I flashed back. I could attempt to pull two sticks and get stable using only the orange slots, but WOW really loves that extra GB and I hate to get rid of it. If I can onl use two sticks reliably, then I would rather just sell these sicks and buy the best overclocking 2x1GB kit on the market today (for this motherboard).

i know this isnt the solution you want to hear about, but the dfi venus seems to be a lot more hardware friendly.
Thats the good news.
It costs $120 MORE than the expert.
Thats the bad news

I use the dfi expert with a 2gb patriot kit pc3200 timings 2-3-2-5. I use the 12/07 bios and the 2 orange slots. I have an X2 at 2.8ghz. If I was you I would find a 2gb kit that is 'guaranteed' (known) to work with the Expert. Because it seems to be 'picky' overall. I got the dfi expert over the asus a8n32-sli because of the high voltages it supports. because i want to use it with the ocz cryo-z when it comes out. But when it is so picky I do have second thoughts!

If they are not going to work in the DFI Expert, then what about any of these?

OCZ Gold GX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 500 (PC 4000)

G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 500 (PC4000)

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200)
That OCZ works fine in my expert. No problems at all.
