DK X48-T2RS

My dad's computer needs a new board and I'm going to give him mine. My current system is in the signature. I would love to get an x38 or 48 with DDR2 support instead of DDR3 due to cost. I've heard good things about DFI and this board is nearly everything I want from it. PCI 2.0 for future GPU's, 1600FSB support, ddr2 support.

Anybody who has a DFI, would you recommend them? I have yet to hear anything bad about their boards. This board in particular, anybody see any problems with it?

Front page. A few users have this board on this forum so perhaps a few can chime in. It is an overclocking beast thats for sure- you may also want to checkout the Rampage Formula.

Sylvanas - he's referring to the DK (the orange one), not the LP UT or LP LT (the two green ones).

Ah right I missed that, oops. Not to worry, I doubt you could go wrong with any of the recent DFI boards.

Thanks for the link. Does this quote really mean that all I would have to do to get my q6700 to 4.0ghz is adjust the fsb to 400 and my divider with no voltage adjustment?
edit: Of course barring temps and cooling

"We recommend that users with quad-core processors stay around 400FSB if they have the luxury of an unlocked multiplier. A 10x multiplier used at 400FSB will not require any GTL reference voltage adjustments to work and choosing the 266 strap will select a default tRD of 6 with some of the phases pulled down to 5 automatically in the BIOS. It really cannot get any simpler to set up one of these processors."

Of course that is on the LT and not the DK. Is one a more "premium board"? Is there any real difference in board performance between the two historically in previous released chipsets?

The DFI x38 and x48 boards are great but do not use a 3000 series ATI card and vista with them unless you want lockup issues. Beyond that, if you are using an nvidia card you should be all set.
