DFI AK74EC

Virgil -

If you truly intend to overclock a Tbird 900 above 945MHZ you do NOT want the DFI board you mentioned. Read the overclocking section and note that the board does NOT support multiplier adjustment. What this means is that even if you "unlock" your Tbird, you will not be able to increase the multiplier to 9.5 or 10X which is what is required to attempt overclocking a Tbird to 1 gig.

Remember, unlike Intel devices which must be overclocked by increasing the FSB, the AMD devices can be multiplier unlocked and it is by multiplier unlocing and increase that the Tbirds and durons are being overclocked. None of the AMD motherboards can tolerate much of a FSB increase due to chipset limitations so they all are basically limited to FSB's of 100 - 110 MHZ. The DFI evaluation you referenced said the DFI board could only tolerate an increase to 105MHZ before it went unstable.

You'll probably want to select different Motherboard for you project. Most will recommend the MSI K7T-Pro2a.
