DFI A64 System Boot Problems

So I got my first batch of parts last night, they should be in the sig. The system only boots to the lanparty screen about half the time (don't have HD in yet)

Possible causes:
1) Powersupply. PSU is nowhere near beefy enough to meet DFI's specifications (24 pin, 480w, some ridiculous amperage on 12V rails). Will be checking connections with voltometer under load to see if the voltage is dropping

2) @#$@#$ Corsair valueram. Bios shows the ram, but I'm not sure. I've heard the board is really picky about the ram.

3) I still need to clear the cmos and tweak some of the bios stuff.

What I'm looking for is general suggestions-anything I can eliminate as the cause of the problem. I obviously need to test the memory when I get home tonight and clear the bios. I know I need a better PSU, but can't afford one until next paycheck. I've been told flashing the bios without having the PSU situation solved is Bad Idea-can wind up with a wiped board.

I should have been more clear... the 24pin, 480W was me quoting DFI's requirements. MY POS PSU is a noname 20pin 450W as mentioned in the sig ;)

Is it 100% for sure the power supply? Any tricks I can try to have a working box until I can afford to order the OCZ 520W a week from tomorrow?

I heard that 24pin is DEFINITELY required for stable running of DFI boards.
How stable will it run without 24pin I don't know. But seeing your case it has quite a big chance that this is indeed the reason.

There are no solutions except getting a new PSU I think... Borrow some money from your friends. It's not like PSU are expensive anyways.

Do you have all 4 power plugs used? Including the 4 pin molex and floppy (below the cpu socket)?

also ive seen others at least at dfi-street.com having problems with corsair ram. i would get better ram if at all possible. the board is indeed picky about ram.

make sure you have loaded optimised defaults. That should help. ANd make sure your RAM is running at the correct Voltages, first boot these boards tend to under volt ram, and could cause issues
