specs:

celeron d 478 320 2.4
875p rev. A
9600pro 128
512 corsair xms 3200
430 TT w/ 18a on the 12v
dvd burner
no HDD attached at this point, i just wanted to see if the fans and everything would start up.

when i turned the psu on, the ready lights came on on the motherboard, but when i hit the power button, it would only come on for half a second (roughly the time it took me to remove my finger from the button). i removed the battery to clear everything completely and tried again to get the same result. then i noticed that if i "prime" the onboard power button (like when you prime a lawnmower) it would stay started.

i suppose i should wait for the HDD to come in so i can see if it's compatibility issues and not power issues. anyone experience the same thing with this board and a prescott?

thanks. don't want to rma this celery d to have to buy a more expensive "C".

is there any thermal compound on the CPU and is the heatsink attached properly? because if not then the motherboard is cutting off to save the processor from death. I think

yeah...

i got AS5 spread across the cpu and AFAIK you hook the stationary clips in first and press down on the other side to hook the other ones. seems to be on there good to me. and i applied roughly the same amount as i have on the one i'm typing with.

is that the proper installation method of a 478. never did one and i bought the cooler oem.
