DF - What's going on?

I don't know what's going on but my production has dropped down to almost nothing. I just checked one of my remote clients. On one of them the progress.txt file is updating and there's 73 files with names like "fold_1lsee9jz_325054_protein.log.bz2" and 74 files with names like "1lsee9jz_protein_0329791.val.bz2". Call me an idiot, but what are those files for and why do I have so many of them on my remote clients? It appears as though they're working because the progress.txt file is updating and the "until next upload" part is going down as I monitor it. Am I correct in thinking the clients are doing work but not dumping?

Note: I do have a proxy.cfg file in the directories and they do point to the correct gateway.

I checked my work clients and don't see anything out of the ordinary, they're all just still crunching away, no extra files.

I know this doesn't really help solve the problem, just wanted you to know someone was reading... 🙂

I'm guessing that whatever causes my clients to not upload over the weekend is still happening now. I don't get it. As you can see, my 'net connection is fine and has been for the past few months. Just for kicks I changed the name of proxy.cfg to proxy.bak on one of my remote (not in my building) clients that I added over the weekend and stopped/started the service. Guess what happened? All of the "results?" uploaded. 🙂 Now I just have to figure out the names of the other systems I added the client to over the weekend. 😕

Hopefully today should be a big day for me. Oh, and probably a record speeding ticket! 😛

good job on figuring it out

looks like those PC's don't need a proxy to connect

also just to clarify

the protein change is scheduled for Tues. Jan. 7 at 4pm EST.

Really weird... My local site does need a proxy.cfg file pointing to our router but the other (remote) site does not need a proxy.cfg file. They are using different routers though so I guess that explains it.

Unfortunately, there's a P4 1.8 down there that I don't know the name of the system on so I can't remove the proxy file. I'll have to wait until the other site admin gets back (hopefully tomorrow) so I can have him tell me the name of it and I can log in and remove the file and restart the service.

Looks like the other systems are pumping out the production though. Hopefully I'll be 3M+ per day? 🙂

remember, you get 24 hours after the servers come back up from a protein change to return the old work for full credit
24-48 hours you get half credit, after 48 hours, those files are junk and you just have to delete them and start over

so hopefully your remote dude will be available tomorrow or wednesday morning and you will be ok

set up a script/batch file to delete proxy.cfg.

Well, you would have to know the name of the machine though.

Good luck! (hope you didn't get too large a speeding ticket 😉)

Hehe... I'm going for a record speeding ticket! 😛 That's okay though, I took over the 2nd spot and I'm chasing down Kris. After that comes FoBoT. 😉 Yeah, right! 😛

Glad you got that one figured out OK. I still don't understand why it only happened on weekends though.

as for that spot you just took OUCH! (congrats) 😎
