So there are less than 1000 users active and there are over 24 million protiens folded???????

I started folding immediately when the project was released and neither of my computers have finished even a single one..... the machine that is the furthest along is on generation 87 (out of 250) on its very first protien....

What the heck is going on?
 
I don't think we can figure out how the stats are working until this project's been running for a while.

My two boxes at home P3 600 and XP2600+

The PIII is damn near done with the first protein while the AMD is only half way.

the stats are all points based

the total PH2 "points" generated so far is 24 million

the client does a "run" consisting of 250 "generations"

the time to complete a "run" (250 generations) is going to vary widely and not be closely tied to cpu speed because of the great variations that a particular PC might take

i think we need to watch the whole thing for a while to get used to what is "normal"
 
I also think that you get more points when going up in gens so eventually the more gens you do the more points you'll get and catch up. (I think)
 
So is the work not useful if 250 generations are not completed?
My p3 1033mhz is taking about 4 hrs for this first generation.
 
It's totally usefull!

each subsequent generation is building upon the work of the last one.

you get higher and higher points for each generation (up to 250 when it all starts over on that machine) to encourage you to see it to the end rather than quit in the middle.

PS: don't feel alone... my computers are fast as hell and so far, one is up to the 100th generation and the other is up to the 53rd.

they have crunched for a day now. (but will be slower from here on out because they are each back to sharing 50/50 with F@H as of this afternoon)
