DF: HELLLLPPP!!!

I stopped one of my machines for a reboot and tried starting DF back up but can't. I keep getting this:

Checking for newer versions...
SERVER DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE, TRY AGAIN LATER

Please try again later. Press Enter

And then it exits. Doesn't start folding 🙁.
I've set autoupdate.cfg to 0 thinking it might skip it and I've looked in the foldit.bat but can't figure out what to edit out.

Wait for the protein change to be completed, download the new client (either from the DF site or autoupdate), and it should start folding again.

Just looked in the error log:

ERROR: [001.001] {foldtrajlite.c, line 4542} StartServiceCtrlDispatcher failed with error 1063

I don't wanna wait for the change to be done!! waaaaaahhhh! 😉

I'm leaving work in about 30 minutes and I'll be down one machine if I do 🙁.

OK, that's funny...

I told dfGUI to upload.... it gave me the server down message... then didn't fold

I ferked around a bit and ended up trying exactly what you did.... pulled the LAN cable

to make it think it was to crunch off line.... now it is!

ALL GREAT MINDS 😀

Tricked into continuing to run the old one 🙂.

Disconnected the lan connection 😛

that is a good short term fix

just be sure to get your "old" protein's uploaded early tomorrow for full credit and then you can get the new protein going

since the new one is slower, you are better off anyway 😉

I think it'll take care of it on it's own.

I disconnected the LAN long enough for DF to figure out it was off-line and start crunching, then re-connected the LAN.

now (after the fake-out) It tries to upload/update @ 5,000 now like normal. It was just the re-boot that stopped it. I'll keep a good eye on it though. 😉

Thanks FoBoT!
