no word yet from howard on when the protein change will occur, my money is still on Jan 7th

good work everyone! thanks for your cycles -> structures 😀

Thanks m0ti!

Congrats to the MMs and Thanks to the PODs 😎

I hope we can get those positions before the protien change. I believe we will be getting a larger one so the more of the gap we can close now, the better for us.

CrazySaint, did you get that OC under control?

Woopee, I'm back after a 5-day hiatus and am crunching again. Looks like I slipped from 15th to 18th place in ATWE🙁. Maybe I can claw my way back up a place or two.

FoBoT,

A little present for you: dfRestart

Only use on computers where DF is installed as a service. Place in directory where DF is installed (uses sleep.exe).

To run hidden, use the scheduler.

Usage: dfRestart time-in-minutes end-condition
end-condition:
-1 stop service, don't restart
0 restart service
other cycle (wait time, stop, restart, repeat)

Finally able to post, everytime I tried posting from work, got a timed out error! Well sid, dumped over 4 mil now in 2 days and haven't had a ticket yet! Now I am worried about keeping my 420k from last night! Have 2 machines working for me over the weekend, an Xp2100 and an XP1800, can't get the 2100 to run full speed! Should make it interesting on Monday when I start dumping all the machines!

I knew you could get it done if you put your mind to it. WELL DONE! 😎

Having problems getting the client to shutdown using DFGui on a Win98SE machine. have foldit.bat configured for no output (quiet mode) autostart and autostop on DFGui, but shutting down the machine, comes up with a "Need to quit program" window! Need help in getting this to run right!

BTW DFGui shuts down, but foldit.bat is still running!

try making a small modification to foldit.bat

add two lines at the very end

echo off
cls

these two lines at the end of a batch file in win9x will close the dos window

i have a win98se box here , i will test it and add dfGUI and see if i can replicate you conditions/test it out

-----------
testing info
-------------

ok, i downloaded and unzipped the plain/normal df text client for winders, onto my test win98se box

started foldit.bat, put in my handle, answered the questions about the switches

i restarted foldit.bat and when i press Q to stop it, it leaves the DOS window open on the screen

i edit foldit.bat to include the two lines i mention above
so the last three lines of foldit.bat are
:end
echo off
cls

save the changes to foldit.bat, rerun foldit.bat, hit Q to exit, and after it stops, the DOS window disappears

now i will download and add dfGUI to the mix and see where we get

--------
unziped dfGUI into my distribfold directory

set the following in dfGUI
use extra ram
quite mode
autostart df client
autostop on close
df client hidden
start dfGUI in tray

now i hit start client button
wait
5 structures complete, so its running
minimize dfGUI to the systray
reboot the PC
no good, i get the same message :frown:

restart dfGUI to see what is going on
first stange thing, all my settings i checked in dfGUI weren't saved :\

rechecked my dfGUI options, clicked refresh, clicked stop client, closed dfGUI, restarted dfGUI
wait for dfGUI to show green, restarted computer

nope, no good, i think jeff has a little bug in dfGUI or something

hmmm, need a way to stop foldit.bat , i saw a program a looong time ago that created a "shutdown" folder in win9x, it was similar to the "startup" folder, that is, any programs/batch files you place in the "shutdown' folder get run as part of the shutdown process in win9x, i will search for it. a batch file that deletes the foldtrajlite.lock file in the shutdown folder might work
another option might be to get in installed as a service (i have heard there are some programs that will let you install services in win9x, i think) and then perhaps m0ti's new prog could be used ?

aw crap have a bubblehead looking for answers for a blackshoe! (USN 1987-1997)! Can't install as a service in Win98, tried that already, tried modifying the win.ini and system.ini files! Both my test machines for the weekend are not running very good! The XP1800 crashed due to bad memory, so is now running as an 1133! The 2100XP won't run at 133FSB, but the memory will! Confused here, bad memory or bad CPU?

Not yet, just logged on. I made a post about it in the 12/26 daily thread. Hmmm...it appears my 350 didn't dump last night, even though I know I hooked it up to the LAN. The good news is I didn't get a speeding ticket, the bad news is that the client on the 350 may have finally crashed (after running for 2-3 weeks solid). I currently have the 350 running headless, so I'll have to hook it up to see what's going on.
