It looks like Terrahawk is trying to put it out of reach! (nicely done!) maybe if positions 2,3 and 4 join up on a single handle we can at least give him some competition :Q (just kidding)

and bfour..... good ol' bfour.... The cops were watching you again (still). Another 30K on that dump and you would have been in the pokey again..... (nice dump management bfour, that was perfect! 😎 )

When you look at the score sheet, there are some really close races going on. Those are the ones I like to watch!

If you guyz remember me complaining about Statsman.org re-directing me... well, here's how it turned out:

first I tried the alternate URL that Bunker gave me (thank you bunker) and that didn't work.

Then I tried deleting ALL my cookies and temporary internet files and history... that didn't work

Then I tried switching to the backup HD (from a week ago)... that didn't work

Then I called ComCrap and asked them to check their DNS server for issues.... we talked for a LONG time trying stuff.... that didn't work.

Then I e-mailed the address on the dotregistrar window I was getting re-directed to.... that didn't work, but they gave me the address of the "re-seller" so I emailed her..... THAT WORKED

This is the response I got:

Unfortunately an error with our central DNS servers occurred. This has now been resolved but will mean that a period of approx 6 hours needs to elapse before the DNS finishes re-propagating. We can assure you that no such problem should ever occur again.

i'm adding a 1ghz duron to the fleet, do I need to worry about managing dumps ?
 
Really crappy day for me in DF! One machine completely crashed due to bad memory, won't even run as PC100! No DDR available in town without getting raped! So I have a XP1700 out of commision, the wife's will crunch as long as it is the ONLY thing running AND you have it as a primary Window with 98SE. Worked on 2 2.0 P4's, can't even get them to run a new PC setup ( just out of the box)! Will try again on Sunday! Looks like it will be a rough dump on Monday! joinT, the reason I have a problem with dumps is because I have 3 that are sneakernetted ( 1 is down now!) and all but 3 are on dial-ups! So sometimes when I do a dump they are huge for me up to 500k!
 
BTW, Sid is there a prize for the most speeding tickets?😀 At the rate things are going on my fleet it looks like that's will be happening!
 
Congratz to Terrahawk and joinT! Man, Terrahawk, that is some incredible production you've got going now. Got a few boxes you'd like to loan me? 😛

I just got back in town about half an hour ago. I was able to leave my computer running Linux with DF as the only app running, so that improved my production some and allowed me to extend my lead over 14th place by about another 40-50k 😀 It looks like my lead will be short-lived once joinT gets his Duron up and running! Man, DF really flies in Linux! I calculated that I was getting a shade over 2.14 folds/sec! That's on my P4 1.8A@2.64GHz.

joinT, you shouldn't have to worry about dumps with that Duron unless you're sneakernetting it.

OK bfour, you got me feeling bad.... 😕

so, here's what I'll do for you. I was given a URL that explains how to recognize matched result pairs in the distribfold directory. and then it tells how to format the filelist.txt file for uploading them. (the URL is really talking about uploading 'lost' results, but with some imagination, I think you can use the info to figure out how to send only part of your results at a time.....) This is not in any way a 'cheat' because you have to have actually crunched and collected results for this to work. I believe each pair will correspont to 5K folds so you can decide how many pairs to upload at a time... spread them out and avoid tickets.

That's all you get (tee hee).

{gonna make you work at it to avoid the tickets because they are FUN to issue

(if your dumps are less than 75K, you are safe, but otherwise.............. da cops B watchin' 🙂 )

Yeah dumps can be expensive, I lost 750k or so in 2 days, looks like I will be only able to dump a little bit by doing some creative work, especially since most are on dialup or have to be sneakernetted!
