Hello there, Folders:

Let's have a looksee at what's going on in the land of DF today.

In case you missed the announcement a couple of days ago, the next protein will be the same as this one. However, they are going to be testing a new sampling method, which should produce significantly faster results, though, overall, the structures will probably be worse. In any case, they're expecting to improve the best RMS on this protein by over 2 angstroms, that's about 25% which isn't too shabby. We'll be moving to the new protein in 2-3 weeks time.

Milestone makers:

ATWE ken008 makes 1M folds! 😀

Congrats to ken008! 🙂

FoBoT hit 575M today, 3/4 of the way to a milestone! 🙂
ATWE Insidious hit 55M today, 1/2 of the way to a milestone! 🙂

Keep chugging along, the two of you!

New member!!! Welcome aboard to FifthFactor! 🙂😀

FoBoT: Hit 575M today, very nice. 5.3M folds for the day, putting him in 5th. 🙂 RMS hasn't changed yet, still worth 30th.

Non-FoBoT:
Top Folder: TA TheMagicman with 87.4M folds! 😀
Best RMS: Still kmmatney with 9.68, which is good for 111th! 😎
Best Production: ATWE Insidious with 1.6M for the day. Good for 16th! WTG! 😉

Producers Of the Day:

FoBoT 5.3M 😛
ATWE Insidious 1.6M 😛
Kris 821K 😛

Congrats to the POD's!

TeAm Stuff:

Wow! Really strong even production across the team keeps the POD list super-short. Nice folding, everyone! We should be moving up two spots by the end of the week. 🙂

Daily Production: 12.3M for the day, which is quite a nice number. That puts us into 4th for daily production! Very nice, it's not bad being in the top 5! 😉 500K lead on 5th, 1.3M behind 3rd.

BTW: In weekly production we are currently third, though only some 350K behind 2nd! :Q

Great stuff, everyone!

Thanks m0ti!
1/2 of the way to a milestone
Did he just call me half-azzed? 😛

ken008 has really been comming on strong! Congrats! 😎

he's not alone either.... check out bfour and kris !

I'm thinking bfour wants a T-Bird 😛

which (convieniently) leads me to:

ATWE: I need suggestions from you!

For the prizes, we presently have designated 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes with the remainder (consolation) to be awarded randomly. With the number of racers we have and a limited prize pool, would it make sense to award only 1st (T-Bird) on points and do all the remaining random? Would it make more sense to keep the places, but re-arrange which prize goes to which? I know most of you don't like to post here very much, but I would really like to know what will make this the most fun for YOU!

HiYa bob970 !

Great to have you aboard.

Check out the race thingy in my sig and hop on in if it sounds interesting.

If you run into any questions (or anything) this is the place, I've yet to see a question go unanswered at the DF Daily 😎

(edit: ) Holy crap! I missed this Welcome aboard to FifthFactor 😱
Glad you are here FF!

Wow, great so see the production lately. The team has grown into a force! 😀 Congrats to ATWE ken008 on the 1M milestone and thinks to m0ti for all the great info as always! 😀

WTG Team! We should ove up 2 spots this week if we can keep it up! Welcome aboard guys lets kick some DF butt!😀

gack!

any NT/W2K admins around?

how do you start a service from the command line/.bat file?

i need to launch the DF service from a scheduled task, i dunno how 😱

If you want to schedule it, you might be better off to use foldit.bat (not installed as a service) with the quiet mode switch

can't do it that way, must be run as a service, hmmmm... there must be a way to launch a service, must search google!

Having reallllly weird problems upon startup of windows with the DFGUI... i get random messages in the client.. like.. client appears to be stopped.. then have to fiddle a lot to get it going.. doesnt seem to be running well at all on this machine as a service either

FoBoT:

net start "Distributed Folding Project Service"

to stop the service use: net stop "Distributed Folding Project Service"

Having reallllly weird problems upon startup

for a service, edit your service.cfg to look like:

service=1
useram=1
progress=15
uploadfreq=999

on my comps, it can take (literally) a couple minutes for it to start crunching as a service when I re-start windowsXP.
you can also set the service recovery option to restart the service on 1st, 2nd, and subsequent failures.

for dfGUI, double check the options you have selected on the GUI. Close dfGUI and re-open it to make sure it saved your settings.

thanks for the help with the service stuff!, i knew it was simple, i even saw an example that said "net start" , but it wasn't clear what it was for, thank you 🙂
i will start getting that setup right away, we (team) should see increased output on monday/tuesday 🙂
expect the largest DF dump ever 😉

FoBoT:

No problem.

Welcome aboard bob970! Hope you enjoy your time with us! 🙂

looking good already today, less than 3 million from #10, but I will be in trouble later today, missed my 7 a.m. dump!

either one should do.

THey're both legal names for it.

Just remember the quotes ("") if you use "Distributed Folding Project Service"
