Thanks m0ti!

I'm having some difficulty with the DF client ceasing to fold (as seen by foldtrajlite.exe = 0% in task mgr.), but the client stays resident in memory so XP doesn't know it has crashed to re-start it. (XP set to restart the service upon failure). This has been a new phenomenon with this latest protien.

After a rather lenghty discussion with Howard via the FreeDC forum and e-mails including screenies and copies of the DF directory files under various
circumstances, his solution was to tweak the beta client and say I should run that instead (wtf ???).

I have noticed that during periods of no on-line gaming, the client seems fine but those periods are never more than a couple days or so. It appears that
if DF tries to upload during a streaming application, this might be when the issue occurs.

Anyway, since I don't want to run the beta, I'll babysit the best I can.

Yeah, I've seen similar problems here as well the last couple of days. Not quite sure what's causing it. Currently using dfDetect to restart the client every once in a while, though I'm not sure if that's good enough... guess I'll just leave it running with dfQ (dfQ forcefully closes DF when necessary).

EDIT: Ok running with dfQ now, and no problems whatsoever. Set the client to upload results (to the dfQ server) every few minutes, and foltrajlite.exe's been running beautifully since.

Slammed at work today but checked my stats. Looks like I had a dump. Hope it's enough to make up for my slacking over the weekend.

Congrats to the POD's & MM'ers and thanks m0ti! 😀

Insidious and m0ti

i found two of my service installs on XP/W2K had "stalled" similar to what you are describing, today also 😕

never seen this before

since there isn't a "bad" WU in common that we could have downloaded, this is extremely bizzarre that several of us have seen it about the same time :Q

howard is just looking forward to the switch to the new stuff, he probably doesn't want to put effort into something that is going away soon

As I mentioned before using dfQ seems to be a good solution to this problem (I'm running all 3 (the Client, Server, and Uploader) on my machine). It works better than dfDetect since it restarts more aggressively (it deletes foldtrajlite.lock... if after 20 secs it hasn't exitted it kills the process forcibly).

Mind you, it won't help much when the computer restarts.

Guess you could disable the service in the mean-time and schedule the various HiddenDfQ*.bat files to start at system start-up.

I think you're right about that.

Unfortunately, his flip attitude towards myself and others who were honestly trying to help with the beta testing was
annoying to the point that I won't do any more beta testing for him.
