DF buggyness rant thread

Ok ive seen many of you complaining about the bugs in the DF project and im about to drop DF myself because of this annoying bug.

On my windows 2000 machine amd XP @ 2013mhz 175mhz fsb ... if i do something that grabs the cpu for an extended time EX: Divx encoding distributed folding just gives up and totaly stops even when divx is done DF just sits there and i must restart it to get going.

Does any1 know what the problem is if not im going to put my xp1700 to use on another project this is really annoying restarting it every day

Um.. don't use DivX? 😀

Just kidding... really, just kidding. 🙂 In regard to DC projects and buggy software, trust me - the entire TA D2OL team shares your pain. 🙁

@ home DF has been doing that to me as well
dfgui would say client appears to be running, but i check taskman and foldtrajlite.exe is no where.
i installed as service and its been okay since then(sunday)
*crosses fingers*

I feel your pain. I was one of the top producers for the DF team before the client changed. After that my client machines started having nothing but problems running DF so I switched them back to SETI. I know some people don't like SETI for one reason or the other but it is one of the oldest and most stable DF projects. It's also very flexible because it can be run as a service (hidden) and can be used with a "SetiQ" to cache WU's and monitor clients.

Hmm.... I haven't found these problems yet but then again, neither have I really scaled up my operations as much as last time. This doesn't look good.

Looks like you *still* are one of the top producers, Robor 🙂
Hmmm... To be honest I'm surprised to hear that. My friend at the other site told me he had to disable the service on a lot of the clients I had running there. He said the service would hang on stopping and I experienced the same thing here. The clients at my site had nothing but problems (idle, errors, etc) so I set the service to manual. I wonder if he re-enabled the service on my remote clients. I'll have to find out. Glad to hear it though. 🙂

I keep watching the DF threads hoping for some sign that my bestest buddy client will return. I used to love DF. I have felt bad since leaving DF because don't like leaving good people behind. The bright side is that whatever the project here at AT..... I just keep finding more great peeps!

For whatever it's worth.... if functionality ever returns to DF.... So will I.

I've had pretty good luck with the latest client, but I stop it whenever I do anything computer intensive, and I run the text client as a screen saver on many of the machines.

My big problem has been viruses at work - I've had to stop DF on most of the machines until we get everything sorted out virus-wise. Most of the people at my work have laptops, and 2 people brought in viruses from home. We don't have an IT person, but I did send a notice out to everybody to apply the latest critical patches when Microsoft first announced the vulnerability:|

oh yeah... woohoo top ten!!!😀
