I've got an 18V DeWalt drill.

I don't have the instructions for it though.

Can anyone explain the features on it?

What is the 1-17 numbering for and what is the 1 and 2 switch on top of the drill?

Thanks.

You need instructions on how to use a drill?

but yaeh, that's the clutch...controlsl how much torque is applied. Essentially the clutch will "slip" at a certain amount of torque. you can play around with it by holding the chuck with your hand on the lowest setting and you'll hear it click - that's the clutch slipping.

the marker that looks like a drill bit means "no clutch" and is normally used for drilling instead of screws.

Thanks guys.

BTW, alot of smoke is coming out of this thing. I haven't used it in a while. I hope its just dust being burned off inside.

Probably just cleaning off the brushes of the motor. Feel the motor to make sure it isn't getting too hot.

Electrical components tend to be connected with lots of little wires filled with smoke. They USUALLY work best if you don't let the smoke out of them...

Probably dust in the motor burning off...hopefully...
