I just came from a Home Depot b&m and these things are $299 new. Many at FW and Amazon are saying they get a new one. When you start with the quality that is DeWalt, a recondition isn't what it may mean for other brands.

Things to note:

- shipping on this 50lb. box is only $9.99
- this is a 12" blade
- no accessories are included (like $23 for an extension for instance)

Overall I think it's a great buy for a DeWalt product and if you don't want to spend $600 for a sliding saw this is a great deal.

Since this one is OOS, does anyone have any recommendations/advice/links to things to look for in a good miter saw?

I want something that can cut 4x4s on a 45 degree angle, but I believe most 12" non-sliders can do that.

I have it in my head that I want one of the ones that projects a laser but I'm not sure if that's practical or just stupid. Seems like a good idea but never used a tool with one so?

PS: This model, or one similar to it, was on clearance at my local home depot last weekend - I think it was regularly $299 and on sale for $199 or something like that. Obviously a big YMMV. The first time I was in there, they had 3 - two days later they were all gone.

Dang, sorry folks. That went quick. I posted right after I made my purchase. Hope some of you got in on it. Keep an eye out... it may be something that comes back in stock frequently.

Regarding HD's brand, Rigid, Lowe's has a similiar home brand called Tradesman or some such... I'm leary to trust no brands. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to power tools. Also HD carries a brand called Ryobi (sp?) that I have heard is the single most returned brand in a Lowe's or HD. I just read reviews, talk to pros and watch for deals.

Rigid is not HD's brand, and is definately not considered low quality. They have been around for years, most commonly known for their hand tools (particularly plumbing tools). They have a great warranty and stand behind their products.

I stand corrected. Based upon the sheer amount of Rigid that was in my local HD I assumed it was their brand. Re quality, that is just what I have heard as I do not personally own any Rigid products. They were the lowest of the low prices and that also led to my assumption.

Ryobi is made by Rigid; Its marketed toward the DYI, which it works good for. A DYI doesn't *need* a $400 saw they'll use a few times a year.
