So when is the Market going to stop sucking balls? I like my Droid, and there are SOME apps in the Market that are real nice. But 97.3% are utter shit. Hopefully these developers who make good looking iPhone apps can figure out how to make good looking Android apps. The 1993 looking UI's on the last 5 Droid apps I downloaded are killing me.

I've used both and they seem pretty similar to me, except the fact that the App Store has a lot better games. Hopefully the Android port of Angry Birds is a sign of things to come for android though.

As for the "1993" looking UI of Android apps, it sounds like you just don't like the default views included with android.

so 'Appcelerator Titanium developers' is statistically the same as 'developers' ?

also, do the most talented developers really develop web apps then convert them for mobile use ? Or do they develop native apps ?

I don't notice much difference between the Android Market and the App Store. Both served their purpose for me and both seem to have the same sort of apps in play. No complaints from me for either marketplace.

Q, are you the one who has spent an ungodly amount of money on the AppStore? (I know there's at least one member here that has). I only ask because my frame of reference is the $1/free apps which seem pretty even on both platforms. I would venture a guess that the majority of consumers are not going to spend too much on apps at any given time. Personally my limit is about $5 for an app (Fieldrunners on the App Store).

The best thing about the Android Market is that you can return a paid app within 24 hours for a full refund. Simply uninstall it and Android tells you it's going to unistall the app and issue a refund. Very nice and something the App Store should implement.

Ungodly? I wouldn't say that, I own a lot of apps, many of which I use all the time. $500 in 2+ years is less than a buck a day. I would pay more for better apps/better looking apps for my Droid so the price isn't an issue here. Make better apps, even if they cost $3-5 bucks instead of 99 cents, if it does something I'm after and looks good doing the developer will get peoples $5. The App store is proof people will spend more money if the app's quality. If I want apps with a crummy old looking UI I'll bust out my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone.

Of course you would but if ti was for Apple, you'd go along with it. People move to the one that's the hottest at the moment and that is Android.

Uh..read the article..

"developers believed Android had the best long-term outlook"

What does this even mean? It doesn't even mean anything, thus I said take it with a grain of salt. Go to Appcelerator, most are iOS apps.

Just because 50-60% of developers from appcelerator thinks Android has a better outlook doesn't mean that developers are moving to Android in droves. Apple Appstore literally has new cool apps everyday, but when I browse Android Market, its a lot slower at getting new apps.

But the Market gets ring tones MUCH faster, it's crazy how fast they get them and how many they have.

Yep, its much more important for an app to look good rather than function good. Developers need to stop making sure their apps work and focus on how they look, none of this 'bug stomping' or quality control crap. Just make the UI look pretty.

Err, wait, that doesn't sound right. ;)

Both are important, functionality's more important that form, but it's not hard to have both.

Guess what, a lot of apps in the app store look good and function very well. Android apps barely does one of those right.

I'm sorry. I forgot my secret decoder ring. Can you please repeat that in English?

That is your opinion. Obviously if the apps were so terrible and never worked, who the hell would use them? They obviously work well enough to help Android be the hottest platform today.

It can't be because they are coming out with buy one get one free and even buy one get 2 free. No, it can't be that.

What does that have to do with anything? We've already talked about this millions of times, Google doesn't make money from selling Android phones. If you don't know how Google makes money then I'm sorry as we've already talked about it many times. Also if they choose Android that means they WANTED Android. They chose it over WinMo/iOS/Palm/etc so umm yea.

Except for app sales .... where it is the worst performing platform today. The performance is actually so bad, that there have been quite a few articles about devs turning their back on android because they did not make enough money to warrant coding for that platform (in addition to iOS).

I was talking more in general as to why there are more android phones. Carriers give them away. When you are given an option between a regular phone for free or an Andoird phone for free. Which would you pick?

I've yet to see one for free here in my area. Can you link me to an Android device for free?

Or cheaper than Walmart was selling iPhones for?

I'm tired of this argument. Yes, the do BOGO's but you still have to buy one for at least $200. That is hardly free.
