I was watching IPL5, and they had a commercial for DMC stating that a new demo was available. Apparently, it's been out since 11/20! Has anyone tried it? Apparently, it's only available for Gold members on XBL.

I'll try it later tonight and post my thoughts.

It's on PS3 too and let me tell you, I played both and the Xbox one looks like a PS2 game. No lie

So, I gave the demo a go, and it's interesting. I've always been a bit sluggish to pick up Devil May Cry's quickness with the controls, and this game throws quite a lot of button pressing at you. You'll want to randomly swap between your scythe, sword and axe while fighting depending on what enemy you're currently targeting or you can use those same items to either pull an enemy to you (axe's button) or pull yourself to an enemy (scythe button).

The one thing that I missed? The female announcer at the beginning saying "Devil May Cry." It's odd, but those sorts of things always stick out to me. It's like how Sega dropped the old Sega splash screen with the SEEEEEGA! shout from some of their newer games, and it just didn't feel the same. If Zombieland taught me anything, it's the little things that matter.

I think I understand what you mean by it looking like a PS2 game. The textures looked bland and the game was rather boxy looking. I haven't tried it on the PS3 yet, but I'll give that a shot later. The Wikipedia page says that it's slated to come out on the PC as well, but it doesn't have a release date.

This article states that Capcom wants the PC version to come out close to the console versions, and that they outsourced the conversion to the same group that did Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Street Fighter x Tekken. I haven't played those on the PC, so maybe someone that did can chime in to how good the port is. All I would really want is controller support (should be simple), high-resolution textures and anti-aliasing. Maybe it won't look like a PS2 game then.

Street fighter 4 on PC was an excellent port.

Well, I did a little research on this, because of how convoluted the Street Fighter realm gets. Now, the article that I linked doesn't say Street Fighter 4 as it says Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, which is a completely separate game from Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4... :|.

Based on what I can tell from Wikipedia's Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 entry, it looks like the company Dimps worked on the PC port alongside (?) Capcom. However, they're also listed in Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition as a PC developer alongside QLOC.

So, what I mean is that I was curious how Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition's port is as that was the one mentioned in the article. I'm not sure if that's what you guys mean as there are way too many Street Fighter games with little distinction... and no one is ever surprised by this. :p

A game like this running at sub 30fps on the PS3 is a joke.

Does it have slowdown? I didn't notice any in the 360 version.

Yeah I mean ssf4:ae as that is the current one used in competitive play. I own itonn PC and it is actually better than the console versions which are good on their own. SxT I don't own but I imagine similar quality.

I did not see slowdown in DmC but it didn't run at the same frame rate as ninja gaiden or god of war

There was some jerkiness and tearing on the ps3.

There's a reason those games run at such a high frame rate....cause the gameplay demands it.

ah AE is the only one i never played on pc. i had a free download code for it but never used it. after playing the first 2 iterations on PC i realized that PC had 0 competition in that game and way worse rage quitters/trash talkers than 360 (if you can actually even imagine that) and that i wouldn't play it on pc anyways so i never bothered redeeming it.

Yes, Ninja Theory's games are always in the 20sum frame range with occasional slowdown to the teens. They can't even stay at a constant 30fps.

Not to mention that a game like this requires 60fps, so even a constant 30 wouldn't be good enough.

Was cool. Very pretty.
However I wasn't too happy that the game froze & I had PS3 Super Slim for less than 24 hours.
However, I looked into it & it froze for many people across all 3 PS3 models.
However the fighting combo system can have a steep learning curve to get best results for anyone that's moderately decent at that type of thing.
And if it looks this damn good on PS3, I'm sad that I probably won't get around to playing the PC port.

Not sure I'll be picking this up before it gets some nice price drops though.
