Hello! This is my first build and I am looking for advice. My budget is around $1100. I'm planning on OCing and I will not need a GPU because I don't game or use anything needing that. I compile and use VMs so I need a fast CPU. My current list is here: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/6Pphqk
I am in the US and I plan on building it next month at the latest. Thanks!

You could get a much cheaper cooler, and use the money and get a better SSD and power supply like you had listed in your original list.

Everything else looks ok.

Thanks. I plan on OCing and I want to play around with the Kraken in Linux, so I rather like that. I'm not too worried about the SSD, since I've never had one and don't need too much speed. I have a 1TB harddrive for documents. The PSU, even though it is semi-modular, I think is ok, maybe not the best. What do you think?

The SuperNova G2 you originally had, is one of the best reviewed gold rated PSUs with a 10 year warranty.

The bronze rated unit in your 2nd list, is a basic unit with a 3 year warranty. It is used a lot in budget builds.

I think the extra $20 price for the G2 is well worth it. Read the review of it on JonnyGuru.com and see the build differences and how stable the power rails are.

If you don't want to spend 850 EVO money, at least get the PNY CS2211. The CS1311 is the lowest tier TLC drive you can get. The CS2211 is MLC and is much better, both warranty and performance wise. Once again, don't take my word for it. Read the reviews. We are probably talking about a $10-$15 price difference.

If you are using a HDD for your programs, you will be fine with 250 GB for the SSD.

Edit:

Anandtech actually just had a SSD buyer's guide.
