Developing 3d graphs

I'm in need of some software that can take various statistical datasets and plot points on a 3-axis graph that can handle multiple resolutions (zoom in/out, look at various angles, etc) then also take that data and perform various statistical operations like variances, volumetrics, etc.
Is there any package out there that can do this? I know of statisical packages and graphical packages but none with both...

I'm also interested in this question and don't know a whole lot about it. I'd guess that Mathematica can probably do everything you want it do, if you don't mind the high cost and the learning curve. But I think most people that are serious about these things split it up - one package crunches the data into some standard format and another plots it. That's the sensible design, really...

well i found XLSTAT whcih is a plugin for Excel that works rather well actually...the only thing it cant handle so far from the last 30 mins of using is transparency such that i can see when two points overlap

I think that Statistica can do what you want. It is very good for statistical visualization. I haven't used it in several years, but I found it very easy to use. It isn't cheap though.
