I'm running in D3D mode. I go into the main menu after I launch the game, it gets really choppy. The actual gameplay runs smoothly, but whenever I go into a menu (ie, to change the weapons layout) it gets real choppy. Also, whenever I get gassed, the gameplay gets real choppy. I have set the affinity to my free CPU. I have the latest drivers for my hardware and the game is fully patched.

Run the game under OpenGL. With the latest patch you get Vogel's OpenGL renderer which runs quite well.

The game has some problems with either AA or AF (or maybe both) being enabled at certain settings. If they're on try turning them off.

Thanks BFG. Te game didn't show OpenGL under certified devices. Lousy Eidos. Hey, since the game has an OpenGL mode, does that mean it can work in Linux well? I'm Using Ubuntu 7.

Just because a game runs under OpenGL it doesn't mean it'll run on any OS. It might if there's an executable for said OS but you can't infer that from OpenGL alone.
