I am near the end as my character has made it full circle and is on liberty island now. I was wondering if anyone could give me some reasons to choose a side.

I'm in the same boat throughout the game I,ve been trying to figure out who is the good guy,s. I wen't back and forth from the Order to WTO and then there is JC.Denton side. I can't remember the first DeusEx so I don't know if JC is a good guy.
I'm on liberty iland also and talked to jan Kawalski (or what ever his name is) Right now they all sound WACKED to me I think I'm just going to wipe them all out.
(Very Good game)

I played all endings.

Three of them are pretty negative and one is positive. I kinda felt it was a bit cheap how they did the endings. I would've probably made all the endings roughly the same, with little personal bias with regard to political ideology. But it's their statement to make, not mine. :)

It depends on what you consider a good ending. Just do the ending that you as a person, if you were there, would do.
You can allways do them all, just to see what its like. But you`ll need a save at the begginning of Liberty Island to do that.
Hoov, remember wiping them all out is also an ending, if you read your notes screen. Let Leo help you though. Hes very helpful and can kick some major a$$ for you, which is helpful if your low on ammo. Theres no need to kill Leo.

*lotsa spoilers*

Yeah, the game itself kinda chose the ending I took. It seemed like everybody was using me for this or that and when I didn't follow their instructions, they'd put out a hit on me or whatever. I was like "screw this". Glad to see there was a Renegade option. Hooked up w/ Leo and he and his leaving-nothing-to-the-imagination suit made quick work of everyone. Bad thing is I think there's a glitch in the game cuz Leo turned and started shooting at me for no reason. I thought maybe it was because I'm a bad shot and clipped him accidently, but the same thing happened after I died and had to reload. I made SURE not to hit him and he still went ape on me. So I had to take him down too.

There's also a 5th ending. Go into the UNATCO ruins, grab a flag and carry it into the restroom. While still holding the flag, use the toilet.

Can you clue me in to the politics of the endings? If you don't want spoilers pm me...

I'm sorry to thread jack, but so many people have told me this is a terrible game and have given up on it.

You guys have played it to the end or almost; worth getting? I really liked the first game a lot. I've waited for this since finishing the first.

Also, I'm assuming the patch fixed the bugs for you?

Thanks, once again sorry but seems like everyone hates this game...

Definately worth getting.
The ppl who sat its crap, are ppl who dont like it being "cut down" for xbox, and the poorish performance, pre 1.1 patch. And have probably only played the demo.

If you "really" liked the first and have "waited" for this one with baited breath... you may be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Here are my negatives:

--Outta the box performance was awful. Patch fixed a lot. Such is the software world these days.
--Short. 10 hours and I did all the side quests and whatnot, and might have even left my computer for an hour or so with the game on at one point.
--Didn't feel the story moving me toward making decisions like the first one. After playing KOTOR, this story just felt weak.
--Flexibility to solving problems implemented poorly. Put it this way, and I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but there is pretty much no need for the hacking mod. I was able to hack into any system by simply finding the login. Of course, no ATMs or soda machines. But, I shouldn't have been able to without the mod. Why use your multitool too unlock that door or turn off that alarm when you can just spend 30 seconds and find a ventilation system to crawl through real quick. Don't get me wrong, I loved how this was handled in the first one, but this one requires no real decision making. It seemed too easy to find alternate paths around a problem.
--Hate the unified ammo. But I liked the weapon mods.

It may seem I'm trying to steer you away. I'm not. I just think there are better and more rewarding games out there at the moment. If you've played them already, then go ahead and get this and do your best to not even THINK about the original while playing.

Oh, I thought the graphics were really nice. I turned the resolution to 16x12 and turned on all effects to max for a little while and walked around. It was a performance killer but I got a good look at everything and was impressed. For playing, I had to bring shadows to low or off and res to 10x7. It still ran kinda slow on my ti4200.

***MASSIVE SPOILER***

Aquanus (JC and Paul) ending: Humanity has one common goal, socialist, no feelings, no individuality. Think Borg.

WTO ending: Capitalism flourishes ruled by a few elite. Humanity was meant to live this way! Your character literally becomes a god in the end. (Barf!!!)

Templar ending: All biomods are destroyed. Cutscene of Templar leader giving a speech. The Templar leader talks about the next vice to eradicate are "errors" (I think). Think witch trials (scene shows some dead body hanging in a church).

Renegade ending: Biomods flourish, humanity turns into a primitive survivalist type culture. Only a few "humans" live on a burned out dead Earth.

***END MASSIVE SPOILER***

As you can see the authors have one intended "proper" ending. I guess Ion Storm's studios are located in Texas so it's not much of a surprise.

EDIT: clarification

Its actually called ApostleCorp Ending.
WTO ending: Capitalism flourishes ruled by a few elite. Humanity was meant to live this way! Your character becomes a god.

No offence, but if you payed attention to the story, you would see that the WTO & Order are the same.
The ending is called Iluminati Ending.
The objective to the ending is that ultimate control over the worlds communications was turned over to the Iluminati, controlled by Ophiliea Station. The leaders would be Chad Dumier, Nicollete Du`Clare & Probably Alex D for helping. The world would essentially stay the same as in the game.
Templar ending: All biomods are destroyed. Cutscene of Templar leader giving a speech. The Templar leader talks about the next vice to eradicate are "errors" (I think). Think witch trials (scene shows some dead body hanging in a church).
That sounds about right.
The Templar Leader is called Lumion Seman.
Renegade ending: Biomods flourish, humanity turns into a primitive survivalist type culture. Only a few "humans" live on a burned out dead Earth.
The endings description described the world how it is, and showed the future, where the Omar are all thats left in the world, and them walking through some sort of battle zone.
All you did is kill the leaders of each faction. This wouldnt not bring about the destruction of the earths surface.
Although your description is probably what would happen in the future of the DX universe.

Thanks for the clarification BoomAM, no was offense taken. I was sitting here going nuts trying to remember the names. I deleted the game about a week ago so I had no reference. D'oh!

I guess that goes to show you how memorable the story was. :)

Aparently yes.
If by kill you mean no shots fired and no knocking people out.
I saw an interview in a mag with WS about DX2, and the question was asked. However, there are parts of the game that`d be far easyier if you killed people.

Wasn't that interview about the demo?

If it can be done in the real game, you certainly have to kill gresils, and bots, and almost surely at least knock out some guards.
